When you're fishing water like this, the color of the Sage fits right in.

Here is my old Temple Forks TiCrX 8wt. next to a nice Alaskan Silver (Coho)
I added the second hand grip (using a wood plug into the blank).
Its so easy to cast a heavy dbl handed rod all afternoon, especially in the river mouths of Maine for Stripers.

Last I heard Temple Fork Rods were made in Korea to high specifications.
Besides the quality they also have a no questions asked repair policy. I know from experience LOL.

Regarding this salmon. Of course i was swinging weighted flies on the Anchor river, Kenai Peninsula, but up and down the river everyone else were fishing salmon eggs and catching 3-4 fish to every one I caught.
I was raised by my elders to believe that bait fishing is not really sport but a semblance of commercial fishing: where "its all about meat!"

FWIW - those high end light wt Sage rods have such a high modulus of elasticity that you best not cast weighted flies lest you hit the shaft and shatter it, no?

I've heard it's possible, but have not had that happen to me.

    Reserected from the dead.

It's happened to me on a couple different occasions. I don't remember which rods I broke. I don't think it's good no matter what type of rod construction.

I don't know how known Stevens nets are, but I will say everyone on here should check them out. The craftsmanship is outstanding and the design is great good size hoop and a deep bag no more worries about fish coming out of the net. Everything about the product is awesome. I hang mine o the wall in the living room because it looks that good! I will be getting a long handle boat net from them soon. Right after I get my father one for his b day.

It's a small, local operation, but top notch quality & craftsmanship! I promote them every chance I get. The nets are works of art and perform just as well. Something that can easily be handed down to another generation.

Here's the site for anyone who's interested.

I remember dad making it like that before he found out about Gink. That was probably in the 70s early 80s. He used lighter fluid and paraffin. Then shook it up.
