Why would the hex screw on this fob be SAE when the truck is all metric? WHY?

Mine did not have the "included" key.

Got it today--a bit pretensions but VERY NICE!!!

The OEM FOB almost falls apart. There is a slot in the seam between the halves (near the key ring hole), use a dime to wedge the top and bottom apart and you get this:

The "guts" of the OEM FOB are nicely aggregated in a silicone rubber "carrier", just lift it out of the lower half of the case. Here's what the flip-side looks like:

OK, so you've got the innards, pull the four cap screws from the new case using the included 7/64" Allen key (made in USA!) and you get this, a bottom and a top:

Pace the guts of your OEM FOB into the new case bottom half like so:

Then place the new case top on top of it all, reinstall the four cap screws, an be happy!!!

I like it--it is also 300+% more rugged and a whole lot more "way cool" (I'm old, give me a break) than the OEM FOB case--don't know if that really matters but it is...

I love the design, but any chance to do something like incorporate the key in the same case, perhaps a folding key?

My SL500 Mercedes has such a key--it's OK but can be a PITA if you do not regularly lock the car (granted the SL is a rag-top so what is the point of locking it)--living where we do in the "land of deplorables" I do not usually lock my truck, as only a deranged complete idiot world fúck with another man's truck here...

Made in USA. We were supposed to "go metric" 35+ years ago--but it never happened.

A funny story; 25 years ago the local hospital redid their grounds and traffic patterns and put up speed limit signs in KPH. They were clearly marked as such however 99.44% of drivers were now driving at 40 MPH in what was supposed to a 25 MPH (40 KPH) zone; what has been 15 MPH areas were posted at 25 (KPH). The signs lasted about a month and a half before they were replaced...

My Tacoma was made in the USA and it is all metric though. I had to go into storage and find my SAE tools so I could tighten this.

So, since I don't have my Taco anymore... do they make one for an early 2000 Ford?

I think a built LED light would be cool. I have one on every key chain I have. They're handy as hell.
