Well I'll get up on it to vent...

The bastards in Hartford at the capital repeatedly spent more money than they had and made all sorts of promises to the state employees. When it came time to fund those promises, they used the money elsewhere. Workers began to retire and the state needs to pay up but that fund is dry. At the same time, those bastards (picking up on a trend?) impose all sorts of mandates. Some funded by the state, some not. Towns base their budgets on state aid. Economy goes in the toilet and tax revenues drop. So now those bastards cut the funding but keep the mandates. They're a bunch of lying x?/!!@;... When the chief bastard ran for office the last couple of times, the state budget was reported as being close to balanced. A month after that bastard is elected, we're billions (yes I said billions) in the hole. This mess isn't all due to one party but one side has been in control for quite a while and lying to the people. There's enough blame to go around...

So yesterday, the news reports school funding from the state is being cut. 85 districts won't get any funding at all. Each is getting millions. How are they going to run the schools??? Two weeks before school starts, they're being told they don't have any money? Another 60ish have reduced funds - 17 million less, for example... Only 30 remain with the same funding.

Ok, off the soapbox. I feel better and won't bring it up again.

I see many more red than white in here because it looks 1000% better!!! Besides who the fuck buys a Honda Civic for it's racing heritage? Oh please

 

I'll jump on it real quick.

My wife is a kindergarten teacher. She HAD a full time aide, not anymore. They cut it this year. Now she has to manage 20+ little kids by herself.

 

White is all color. Black is the absence of color. I've never liked red cars

I think most sports cars look better in red. I've been digging white over the past couple years, as long as there's enough black to contrast with it.

Yeah because this looks so terrible!

 

At least your wife still has a classroom. In my wife's district they laid off over 100 teachers last year and she won't be hired back. Class sizes in her district are going to be in the 35-36 range.

The public education system is broken and the children suffer. My wife shouldn't be spending $400-500 a year purchasing supplies only to lose her job at the end of the year. Last year she was laid off and brought back. This year she won't be brought back unless they open up new classrooms mid-year. She's looking to change districts next year hopefully.

In her district there used to be paras in all the kindergarten classrooms and now there's one per building. It isn't right.

 

Dang man. That sucks. My wife usually spends about the same as yours for stuff like that too. It's sad, it really is. And then the US complains about being behind when it comes to stuff like that.
