This. The Crawl box was hands down the best mod I ever did. I recommend people do that before an SAS as it has the best bang for the buck performance gains.

That gas can shower is pretty cool!

Never had one on a Taco, but have had in the past on some other Toyotas. I would wholeheartedly agree with this statement. It pains me not to have one already, but the funds are not there yet!

Also, nice to see some semi-local guys on this thread! Come out with the Keystone guys sometime - we hit either Rausch or Anthracite on the second Saturday of every month - only thing you need to do to run with us is show up in the parking lot on Saturday morning.

For sure, love Rausch! Trying to concentrate on more adventures than straight wheeling for a bit.

Mike, which alternator did you end up going with when you upgraded? I see a couple from carquest in the products section at the bottom of the page, but I wasn't sure if you ended up going with either one. Im looking at doing the Big 3 and Caddy alternator as part of my dual battery job. Thanks, man!

I have a TacoBox and RAD triples sitting in my garage that will hopefully be getting installed this fall. I can't wait!

I'll be hitting you up for tips if you don't mind. I can't count on being able to get ahold of Wyatt, but you never know...

It was Part No 8112-5A, this one:

    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p...actured-140-amps-8112-5a/5210879-p&nAID=11138

So you don't need to use a different belt, uses same belt as your stock alternator.

Yup  Put the gauge wire in your thread and gave you a link to the install post. Followed @Blackdawg's write up really haha

As far as powering the fuse panel now, I have the stock small run that ran from the panel to the battery, no outgoing to the alternator like it used to.

    Just found this old post:

    PROGRESS!

Thanks Lloyd! Yeah I'll probably borrow Jerry's since he is around the corner for me. Sadly it's only a $100 bracket but I want to make sure my gas/food/emergency funds are set before I spend another $100 on a bracket.

Mike, I'm picking up the alternator today and I ordered the pigtail from eBay. It's starting to come together. I'm wondering how thick that spacer was that you needed for the alt. I have a lathe at work, so I'm probably going to turn a spacer of my own. Can you tell me the OD, ID, and thickness I'd need?

Also, I'm trying to find a wiring diagram for our trucks. I'm going to be running dual batteries in the cab, so my wiring will be a little different from yours. Were you able to find a schematic for your '01?

    Thanks, brother!

Alas things I cannot help you with unfortunately for once. The spacer I made was about 3 washers thick, but the tape I wrapped around it made it just a smidge thicker which was perfect. The ID and OD you can grab from the alternator really. And nope, no wiring diagram for the truck. And even if I did find one I doubt I'd be able to read it. :anonymous: I could barely read ARB's diagram the provide in the installation manuals.

Finally got the new rack in Saturday. Happy I got it done because now I can go to Moab with no leaking rack, and brand new inner and outer tie rods. Only downside is I still have a slight PS whine under throttle :annoyed:I've had the pump replaced under warranty twice already, might see if they will let me get away with three times. Figure the leaking rack always letting air in the system wore it out. At least if it gets replaced that way I won't be out anymore cash before Moab and can do an OEM pump when I get back if the shit starts whining again.

Looks like they had it centered from the factory for me, but I double checked it just in case.

Last big project to focus on is the damn jerry can carrier. Running out of time and work has me fucked for the rest of this week.

Lucas makes a product used to condition and quiet power steering units. I have used it in mine and it mixes just fine with ATF or PS fluid. Might be worth a shot, I used a turkey baster to remove a cup or so of fluid and replaced it with the Lucas. It's been quiet ever since and this was with a NAPA reman unit.

I guess it's worth a shot. I researched a bit and it looks like rock auto won't let me warranty it for a third time. :cookiemonster:

Moab prep is going full speed ahead. Had a really shit couple of weeks of work so I treated myself to some @RelentlessFab low pro light bar mounts.

This year for TWSS @HAVVOKK (which it looks like he was banned or deleted? :( ) got m a 42" curve LED bar for me. I never had the spare cash for brackets because there was so much Moab related shit that took priority. Well finally I got it mounted and couldn't be more stoked. It really changes the look of the truck plus since my headlights are garbage at this point, and my spots broke, this will help me out a ton.

    A0AC7D44-19BC-4E68-A5DC-5C1A41A30E15_8875200ff46a087ada8b6121167b5e519fc65aad.jpg

Gotta pul it off to paint now. Also need to drill another hole now that it's aimed. The lightbar uses 2 holes to mount compared to most using one big hole. Easy enough to fix.

Next up is my camp kitchen project. It's basically a sterilite box that I made so the lid can stay open, mounted a pelican organizer to it, and then put in dividers so the stove can stay on top since it's what will always be first out of the box.

    8CA38904-7436-467A-ABFE-36C72D53F56F_114c4e6675f1cab6c72a50793d093f9e39fe2a4f.jpg

Next up was fabbing up my jerry can mounts. Got everything cut and measured, just need to make a BPF appt to weld it all up. I really wanted this project to be something I fully fab and weld myself, so it should give me some good practice.

    D0951032-0594-422B-AA56-318E098080F1_e7daa2f40e858f8e43d8c755218fe621d2cede68.jpg

The jerry an holder is my last big required project for the trip. It will probably not end up being how I want it in the end since I have ideas on skinning it, but it will do well enough.
