    1 or 5 is usa i think. 3 is mexico. i think 2 is canada. someone correct me.

    I am going to have my Tacoma next wednesday. My first Tacoma. A 2010 acces cab 4x4 4 cyl barcelona red !!!

    Don't know why there are two for U.S.A. Europe has a different set of codes. Tacomas are built in Texas? I think? :confused: Somewhere in the southwest.

    i think they were built at nummi in cali then they switched over to the texas plant. not to sure if they were built anywhere else. i know tho that our beds are built in mexico tho lol

    I just bought my first tacoma this week. The first number of my VIN is 5, so mine is a Texas truck?

    FWIW, a dealer here in Lexington, KY told me that the plant in Texas was moving to California this year and there was going to be a 3 month lag between production of the 2010 and 2011 models, and of course supply was going to be limited soon. I don't know if there is any merit to that or not, I thought it may have just been a sales tactic.

    They haven't started building them in Texas yet. Yours came from Fremont, Ca. I believe your dealer's info is backwards. Toyota is moving out of the NUMMI plant in Ca to avoid the UAW. That plant was co-operated with GM. When GM decided to end the partnership, Toyota decided to close the plant. I believe Tacoma production will be joining Tundra production in San Antonio.
