So yesterday at lunch i decided to experiment and bypassed the pcv valve plugged the vacuum source and when i was going through the drive through i smelled excessive exhaust burning along with everyone else. I didnt think much of it but this morning it even worse. Just sitting at a stop its all around the truck and in the cab. I hope this is just the pcv valve or do i need to rebuild the turbo  :facepalm:turbo life is killing me !!!

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
The pcv vents blowby from the crank and usually smells of oil and gas I'd you just vent it to the atmosphere.

sorry i meant i just plugged the vacuum source and left the valve cover side open and shortly after that i started smelling exhaust. then noticed today it was coming out the tail pipe a lot at idle enough to barely stand it in the cab.

If you route a hose from the valve cover, down to the frame area, your vapor smells should get a lot better.

Easy: Route the valve cover to between the filter and turbo inlet. That way it will burn off the crank case blow by.

Hard: Add an angled bung on the exhaust downpipe, so that the exhaust flowing by it creates a suction, and route the valve cover to that port.

The question I have though, is that there should be an inlet into the valve cover, as well as the outlet port which you now have just venting. Where is the inlet?

@Torspd about midway up the valve cover on the driver side, although most of the time for a 3rz there is a 90* fitting there

Crazy turbo life o_O apparently the pcv valve does serve its purpose because I put it back the way it was and now it's not leaking oil at least not as much and no awful smelling exhaust :notsure:. Also I installed the MBC and the lowest it will go is 8-9 psi which did ok to 5000 rpm but you could feel the power fall off a little at 4000 on 1st to 2nd gear 2nd to 3rd pulled good to 5500. I guess I'll keep mixing C12 in the tank until I can put an inline pump. That is provided the engine holds up.

Mine is hooked up just like stock to the Intake manifold. I replaced the pcv itself with a metal body one and new grommet from LCE. The front valve cover vent is ran to a vac source that connects to the Intake pre turbo. I haven't had any issues

Back in one of the threads someone told me to take the front valve cover vent off vacuum and put a breather filter. The pcv valve is in the original location

Some people have just put a breather on it w/o issue. They just end up with some oil residue leaking out. I read on CT somewhere that it needs vacuum to help pull air out and balance the crank case pressure correctly. That's why I ended up linking it into that vac line that runs across the front of the engine bay and ties into the intake.

Sooooo, my 4 banger is making some extra noise I don't approve of. And I have some, not all, turbo setup pieced together.....

Not sure if i want to buy another motor and build it on a stand
    Or
Do an engine swap with say....an ls1 or something with decent mileage.
