Still have a few emails left to do.

The development, definitions etc is not for sale, sorry. We have all all of it and have created the definitions in house.

Yes you can order without. A couple people have already, we just need to know you don't need it ;). Email me I'll get you taken care of.

I thought you meant about buying access to make tunes

I would want to tune my truck myself if that is an option.
I trust my tuning and prefer certain things a certain way.

Maybe you could discuss your way with @OVTune, and it could benefit the rest of the users as well. I've been around tuners for diesels, efi live, hondata, cobb, other stand alone units before, but this structure of ECU tuning that Toyota is using seems way more complex than others. The general public could get over their heads real quick if they were able to tune their own vehicle the way some other vehicles allow. (I'm not referring to you - because I have no clue of your ability/knowledge)

I'm in the south metro area as well and would love to hear feedback on the drive heading west on I-70 if/when you have it.

If you are such a great tuner go crack the ECU yourself. Otherwise, let OV do his thing.

So OV Tune cracks the code. Does all the work and this guy wants the code for himself. I wouldn't give it to him either.

Research and development on a platform no one else has been able to develop for and you're complaining that he's not going to just give the r&d away?

I would think the buy-in for this would be in the 10s of thousands of dollars in licensing, possibly per year. It's not something you would give away. It's up to OV to decide how to handle it but I don't blame him for not having interest in other people using his work to tune trucks. That opens up a whole other shit storm of possible issues and liability. No thank you.

Incorrect... You can allow access to adapt and tune without access to multiple cars.

However he may be limited since he using open source software (free software) with tactrix.
A company say, sct. One can buy the part to tune only there car.

Cobb is another example. You can adapt and tune your car only. You're not running away with the knowledge and effort from Cobb. Only customizing.

E tunes are not the best way to go. I would rather run on a dyno, or at the least street tune day of with a comparison to an lm2 wideband at the least.

And what happens if I wish to tune in effort for a change a year from now? More you toes emails trusting a person over states away on limited data sent via email? No... bad idea.

I'm not asking for the key to the city. I'm asking to buy the ability to tune my truck only.

Though it appears that since we are using open source software... that is software FREE to the community ECU flash No? Given this is tactrix?... that level of security is not available for his for the protection of his profits.

I do not mind paying. That's not the point... I'm not trying get the pie, thats not the point... I just want to be able to tune my truck with my tools with my experience involved. Not limited data in am email without the use of, in my opinion needed tuning tools.

I didn't deco.pile and make the definitions. I just want to make the adjustments....

If you were mechic for a decade. Why would you trust Toyota to change your oil, even if they require a special wrench?
Wouldn't you ask to buy the wrench to change the oil yourself? As solo many of us do...

I think this a great leap forward for tacomas... I feel and will continue to feel it will be beneficial long term for more open source tuning and free flow of information.
That isn't to take away from his effort in making the defs.
That is only to remove his effort from inn my truck in the future when I decide to change components thay require a tune.

Because thats what really matters. The opportunity to be able to do whatever we can think of without the shackles that Toyota has placed on the ecu.

Limited ouraelces to upping the octane is absurd

Why don't you crack the software yourself instead of expecting @OVTune to supply you with his proprietary work?
    Where's that ignore button...

Very expensive software is needed to decode and make devs in an easy manner... poor choice of investment for one truck.

If you don't want to contribute something positive to this thread, why do you feel the need to be on this thread bagging on the OP's product?

No bashing... much respect for him and his team's effort.

In fact I think a great deal of positive things could be added by others trying to tune beyond that of just octane inreaceses. Others wish to tune for turbo and the like. I say have at it! We can all learn from eachother no?

So anyone who has this installed, what has happened to your MPG over all. Any gains? Any major loss due to HP gain?

I've been meaning to write something up for this.

As of 1.01b I am noticing big gains in mpg. I don't have measurements because pre tune it was so low I just did not care to track it. Cruise control in particular seems to be incredibly high (24-26 on flat freeway). I live in the mountains and get 20 highway now and 17 or so driving to work from a cold start.

To elaborate on why I think this is so significant is because I live in a 30 zone, and over my short commute I am basically in constant acelleration from the 30 zone to a 45 zone and then a 55 zone. This used to kill my mpg.

Just some insight for those worried about mpg.
