Looking to install a sub enclosure behind seat in a 1999 single cab. Any suggestions for a pre loaded box that will fit or a shallow mount sub and I can fab the box?

Kenwood KSC-SW11 seems to be OK for what it is, especially if you combine it with sound deadening your cab and putting in decent replacements for the stock speakers. Seems like the easiest solution, I'm gonna try and put two in mine.

I have one in mine. It's not mind numbingly bass crazy, it's just okay. A real low profile sub in an enclosure would be 100x better.

Yeah, that's what I meant by 'ok for what it is'. Obviously a real sub in a box would be better, but the amount of effort (DIY)/cost (pro install) is what makes the Kenwood KSC-SW11 a viable option.
But hey, while you're here, since we both have a 98 extracab, where did you put yours? Under the seat? Do you have any sound deadening? What do you think about putting two of them in, would it be worth it vs just upgrading the stock 6.75's? I use my cubbies and back seat a lot, I definitely do NOT want to put a box in. I did it in my ranger and wound up hating it and taking it out constantly.

Under my driver's seat. You're right, it's very decent for what it is. No I don't have any sound deadening, but I do plan to put some in the future.

I was looking at making a custom sub box where the cubbies are but like you I use them a lot. That's the only thing I don't like about the ext. cabs, nowhere to put a sub like the double or single cabs. What do you mean the stock 6.75's? The speakers?

Yeah, the speakers. I've actually never heard the thing in person, and I'm wondering if in you opinion, I'd be better off just getting the best speakers I can find instead of this 'in between' sub that sounds OK but isn't a's good as an actual sub in a box.

When I put in the Kenwood sub I also changed out all the speakers. The Rockwood-Fosgate speakers I used did have some bass to them (you can feel the doors vibrating when you turn up the bass on the speakers) but they were nothing compared to the Kenwood added to the mix. The sound quality improved a lot, even with the Kenwood on the lowest setting. You can't beat a decent subwoofer.

That Kenwood unit is really small. There are full 8" underseat powered subs that can add a good amount more to the low end than that unit.

    Affordable:

    Rockford Fosgate:

I ran the Sound Ordinance subs in my 94 and 2003 under the seat. I ran 2 in the 2003. In my 2015 I'm going to go with RF.

I did run a 1" seat lift which helped provide clearance for the sub.
