The ceiling/wall mounting plate could have been engineered a little better though. The mounting holes line up with the reel, so access to the mounting holes is limited. I had to use a socket to drive lag screw in the mounting bolts while trying to hold up the entire doodad up the ceiling (minus the hose, which I unreeled prior to mounting.)

If they made the mounting plate wider and the holes outboard of the reel, I could have just zipped it in with a socket and impact or drill.

    Minor detail.

I am sure this has been mentioned already, but does anyone have one of these? I've been thinking about a good general purpose air compressor and I like that this one is oil lubricated.

Gonna be stupid loud. All direct drive compressors are painfully noisy. Any belt driven compressor will be a better choice.

Same complaint. The mounting seemed kinda ridiculous. I bought the manual rollup reel because I didn't trust the retractable setup, but it's got the same mounting issue.

I mounted mine to 16" 2 x 4 while on the work bench, then lagged the 2 x 4 and reel to the ceiling hoist.

Damn. I wish you suggested that before I was balancing my ass on a stepladder with the reel on my head, a ratchet on my right hand and the lag screw on my left. LOL

That's OK though. I treated myself to an extra cold one for accomplishing this feat.

It's okay. This place is for learning. If someone else stumbles onto the thread and learns there is always another way to do a job, I consider that a win.

Does anyone have any experience with Harbor Freight floor jacks? Im contemplating getting this one which seems like an amazing deal.

Their floor jacks are great. I wouldn't waste money spending more on another brand.

Works as intended. As with any jack, have to pair it with jack stands

Thats the one I have. Have had it for 5 or so years with no issues. Just read the directions for first use as I think you need to bleed it and possibly add a bit of grease (cant remember if that was for the jack or bottle jacks or if im mixing all sorts of stuff up lol)

Just bought that same one for about 85 bucks on sale, ready to run out of the box. Grease the 1 zerk fitting and go.
Rapid pump is great, but don't expect it to lift the truck in 2-3 pumps.

I did exactly that. You can buy a bottle of jack oil for like $5 at HF. Topped it off and bled the system, and it's been great.

The 2-Ton HF Jack seemed to have the highest lift height of the HF Jacks (at the time.)
Also bought the HF Crossbeam at the same time.
    Thing is indispensable.

I have that jack as well. I need to look into that adapter thing you have. Looks like you lifting on the stock frame, not your sliders.
I hate rotating my tires. My driveway is sloped, so i don't feel comfortable lifting up the rear wheels to put on stands.

Actually, in this pic I'm installing the sliders. I've also used this to install my 1/4" steel skids. They weigh a ton and no one to help. LOL

But I do use this set up to jack up the entire one side of the truck to rotate the tires. Makes it pretty easy.

I make sure I engage 4-Lo, set parking brake, chock wheels of other side of truck and use jack stands.
