sit down with your owners manual and read through it. there a whole slew of different traction control settings, all which have their time and place. all this is good information to know.

short answer: when stopped, truck on, hold down the traction controll button for a few seconds. a light will pop up on your dash, traction control is off, and you are allowed to go have some fun

Press and hold the traction control button for 3 seconds or so. It's the ones with the squiglly lines.

VSC intervention is what you experienced. As others have pointed out, read your owners manual. It isn't well written but its better than nothing.

As others have pointed out, with your vehicle completely stopped, pressing and holding the VSC OFF switch for a full 3-5 seconds will turn off VSC so you can have fun going sideways. :D

Oh, right. Forgot you had to be stopped.

Glad it worked out. I go to Calgary every Christmas, and the VSC/Traction Control annoys the hell out of me. Every time you turn a corner on the ice, it breaks and beeps.... even at low speeds such as going into/out of the drive way. I can understand the idea behind it but it's WAY to sensitive.

The thing that amazes me is that there are quite a few people that spend 30K and don't do the research or understand completely what they are buying.

The short answer is you can turn it off but you can't totally disable it. If you want to totally disable it then you will have to do some wiring modification or get an older truck.
