Shuddering

I've posted this in the NJ thread and the Pennsylvania thread. Now putting it here:
Did My Lift Today. With the bushing. I have a shudder still. When I had no lift and removed the bumper shudder went away. Did the lift today shudder was still there. Does there need to be a front diff. Drop?
It added 2 1/2 inch in thefront.
Going45-60 there is a shudder. No mater if in 2wd 4wd. Foot on clutch and does it. In neutral at those speeds it does it.
When I had the bumper on without the 31m Northstar battery no shudder(Since November). I put battery in made shudder(June).Took bumper off shudder went away. Now with lift on shudder is still there.

Starts like this.
Mods to truck before vibe

Only added the bumper in November of last year. And the 12k winch synthetic rope.
No shudder or vibe. Drove great.

Then I added the following in say april:

Every steel skid from mobtown
Mobtown sliders
Gas tank skid steel
Steel LCA skids
Rear Diff Skid

Everything was fine and drove nice. I needed to do a lift because of the sagging. No issues no vibe/ shudderin.

Come June when I added the Northstar 31m
Shuddering/ vibe 2 miles down the road.

Now fast forward to July.

Removed bumper and winch but have new battery in. Vibe goes away.

Put bumper back on vibe comes back.

Did lift with kings front and rear with JBA UCA. OME leafs in rear.
Carrier bearing drop.

Vibe still there

Have tried

Removed needle bearing. Added the bushing to the driverside diff.

Remove Carrier bearing drop. Still there
Put Carrier bearing drop back on.

Removed new battery and put old one in. Still there.
Put 31m back on.
Removed driveshaft. Still there
Put drive shafts back on.

Did a alignment. Still there

Going to try:

Taking tires off and checking balance.

Rotate the tires.

Install front diff. Kit.

Install go pro under truck. While driving have the camera app on phone to veiw go pro live and see if I can see or hear anything.

Have shafts looked at.

And see if the Toyota commercials are right. Dropping off cliff. Hope it doesn't survive.

What do you mean by "shudder?" The only thing I can conclude is something weight related to that corner of the car (bumper and battery).

 

Bad half shaft joint possibly?

That's what we are going to look at tomorrow as well. Is it a quick/ easy fix? Are the parts readily available?

 

No it wasn't checked. How do u check them? I only took the driverside off to do the bushing install. Put back in.

 

I assume this is possible to do like other part time 4wd cars and awd cars. Pull both half shafts out of the spindle and unbolt them from the diff. Drive in RWD. If its half shaft/axle related it would not be there anymore because well the axle isnt there lol

It could also be a bad install when you did the needle bearing.

 

No rips or tears.

 

I was thinking of that as well but then all the fluid would leak out.

 

From the front diff? No, that should all be in the pumpkin/diff. The half shaft should be bolted into "cup" looking things on the diff. If it was a solid axle then yes you would be right about the fluid.

 

By the way, I havent took too much weight on the "it happened before the lift and bushing replacement" paet because joints in half shafts can still be broken or binding without any rips or tears in the boot. The bearings in said joints can bind up and/or break inside the boot.

Are you sure? I've never pulled a cv from a front diff of a truck before but I've done it countless of times on many different RWD cars and they are definitely not just open like that.

 

Replace the cv and see then? Besides pulling them or replacing I have no more ideas because I have a feeling its half shaft related.

 

Yes. I lost almost a pint of fluid when I pulled the cv to get the needle bearing out. I could see the spider gears.
