To clarify, tactrix hardware is only used, as it's just a pass through device.

Ecuflash, open-source software is not involved at all.

None of the software is free or open for sharing, everything is licensed.
The file itself is licensed to trucks individually with unique identifiers unique to every truck.

Zero percent of the process is open-source. We collaborate with tactrix and our cables are specially assigned unique serials which are not standard open source cables.

This is nothing personal but I have been down this road with people who "just want to tune their own cars." It is never the case.

If you'd like to tune your tacoma on your own you are welcome to, you just won't be getting anything from us, sorry.

***for anyone awaiting an email, getting to them now. I was out all morning doing some development tuning for the new supercharger for the MX5 ND today ***

I haven't noticed any MPG gains, but that was also the last thing on my mind. If anything it might have gone down because I've been heavy on the gas lately. I'm usually always in a rush when I'm behind the wheel, even when I have no where to be...:D Anyhow, I get somewhere between 14.5 to 16.5 MPG. It's mostly city driving and I do have quite a bit of added weight with a bumper, winch and full set of steel skids. I also have 275/70/17 E rated tires, so I'm sure these heavy tires don't help either. I bought this tune for a better driving experience and it definitely delivered!!

Did not buy this for MPG and have not seen any kind of gain. My desire is more power and drive ability improvements. I hope @OVTune pushes the 91/93 octane tune more in the 1.02 release. I also wait for the logging so I can get a tune that will take the Spec U exhaust into account as it does make the engine breath more efficiently. The restriction of the stock y pipe and secondary cats are substantial. The 1.01A/B are a good Alpha start.

OV, are you able to tune or make changes on a person by person basis? We're mostly 93 down here so a 93 tune would be worthwhile. Maybe other changes that we simply don't know about could be made?

I am order #1893 and have not got my kit yet. Ordered on July 4th. Received a USPS tracking number on 8/14 but it still says USPS hasn't received anything yet. This is certainly a long process......

I'll do a quick review, just installed my tune and drove to work which is about 14 miles & mostly freeway 55-70mph. I have double cab, long bed, auto, 275 E ko2s.
First off Installation was easy easy easy.
So over all just with my short all I can say holy shit*t I'm impressed! This is how the truck should have came out of the factory. It holds 5th so much better on the freeway, it no longer needs to down shift to 4th to get up to 70mpg from 55mph. Even on a long incline it held 5th no problem. I normally average 16 mpg but with the tune I got 18. Even got the tire to break free when starting from a stop haha.
The truck it's self just feels like it runs better. It no longer feels like it's being held back & I no longer have to force it to do what it should be able to do.

So far I couldn't be happier even just driving it once for a short distance. Its worth every dime. I'm even more excited now for the update!
At the end of September I'll be doing one last riding trip pulling my 1100lb jumping jack trailer with 2 yfz450s. I'll report back about how that goes, I'm looking forward to actually pulling it. Which is a great feeling because I HATED pulling it.

Shout out to @OVTune and all their awesome work and Matt's customer service he's been providing. I've been following them and this time since it came to light in the first thread & I'm damn happy I did!

Could you pay attention to if your shifting changes as your ecu learns your driving style? Several of us have noticed a sight increase in shifting frequency as the ecu "learns". Tune is still great but the ideas of setting the ecu to limit the "learning" have been thrown around.

Mine kind of went back to its old habbit (shifting/hunting gears). ECT still a great improvement. I still hate driving on freeway. Nothing excitment for me. Hopefully the 1.02 will make some big improvent. I hope @OVTune will considered eliminating the "shifting memory' thing out on the 1.02.

@Egnaro I will, sadly I won't have much seat time this week as I'll be flying to Wyoming for a few days.
I remember reading a few posts having to do with people wanting the ecu learning junk turned off & I would be all for that!
Some days I drive like a jackass, others like a grandpa. I want my truck to respond to how I drive it then & there. Not how it thinks I want to drive.

Did @OVTune have a response about being able to turn off the ecu learning feature? I'm looking back
A few pages but haven't come across the previous posts about this. Lord only knows how far back it is
with the way this thread goes. Haha

    Here u go. Page 202

QUOTE="OVTune, post: 15822303, member: 214557"]I can outline what is adjusted in the 1.01B tune it's mostly the same as 1.01A (with exception to details on the "stutter" adjustments)

Also we are quickly trying to wrap up any last things we have to do on other platforms ( like some nissan stuff ) so we can focus more towards this specific platform and ECU type (P5 Toyota).

With that, we want people to understand there is no rush to get a kit at the current moment. We should finally be fully caught up by the end of this month and have our new tuning kit case but we want people to know we are going to be around. This isn't a limited time deal. Consider that I have been doing toyota tuning since late 2015, this is the first platform that we are developing a fully functional datalogger for. So it is only going to keep getting better.

As far as the shifting "memory" I can make it where the truck "learns" only 1 mode and it will be consistent with every time you start the truck, but I am not sure how popular this would be, as part of the reason there are others is so that it can "learn" your driving and make it more comfortable to you.[/QUOTE]

So you are running the tune, and noticed it resorting back to old shifting habbits??
