I'm getting a whistling noise coming from the driver side door at the 70-85mph range. It kinda sounds like it's coming from the mirror. Anyone else have this issue?

No idea. Seems odd that it is only between 70-85? Door slightly cracked?

It happens every day, so unless my door doesn't close properly at all I'd say no. Window all the way up too.

Search for kazoo sound in the 3rd gen section. There was a video posted recently by z50king on it.

I have the same problem on my 2014 DCSB. Usually when driving at speeds in excess of 75 mph with fairly stiff cross-winds. Had the same problem with a 2003 Chevy Astro. Dealer replaced the mirror on the Astro and I never had the noise again. Have not addressed the issue on the Tacoma yet, but I suspect it is being caused by the air moving between the body of the mirror and the hinge.

Yes I have had it happen to me. Same speed with a cross wind from the right side. Sound like blowing over the top of a bottle sound. I suspect it is the mirror and the wind goes over it just right and makes it sing for you.

Does your truck have the clear bra kit? I experience one where a customer had a clear bra kit including side view mirror. I swapped mirror with a stock one, wind noise went away. Issue was the clear bra didn't wrap over the edge of the mirror it stopped 2-3 millimeter before the edge and that was enough for the wind turbulence .

Another thing to check is the plastic door seal behind the door panel. Make sure it's completely sealed. If there's a void (opening) that will cause an air leak/noise.

Same thing happened to me on my way back home from the sierras last week. Hasn't happened since though. There were some heavy cross winds coming through the desert.

No mine does not have the clear bra. Im not worried as it only happens with a cross wind. It sounds like it is coming from the mirror and not any of the door seals.

That's normal then, a lot of Lexus has cross wind noise. Plus we're higher up with a truck

If you have time, you could try removing the door panel and insulate the bolt holes of the mirror. Maybe that would reduce it some?
I just turn my radio volume up a notch to drown out all the abnormal noises. Esp the rear leaf springs

Another trick I use for wind noise is the autmotive stethoscope. Remove the metal probe and just use the rubber hose and place it along suspected area of noise.

I was getting the kazoo sound when driving freeway speeds with a cross wind. I just had the dealer replace both right and left front door seals. I just came home tonight from a 185 mile freeway drive with a crosswind and my noise is gone. What you need to do is video the sound as you drive. You will need to prove it to the service advisor since it may not be duplicatable by the dealer. I had no problem getting them replaced because I proved the problem exists by video. I believe the door seals are just weak.

I think you are missing the point. The dealer should be taking care of the issue, not customers ripping the truck apart.

Brought the truck to the dealer....they claimed it was "Normal" and sounded the same with another taco...guess it's a design flaw.

I'm a Lexus technician. I'm the one ripping apart the LS460 for wind noise.

There's a TSB for it, and replacement door seals. Toyota wouldn't make replacements if there wasn't an issue.

Sometimes just the replacement of door seals doesn't take of the issues. Rare occasion, there's more to sealing, I.e does the window put enough upward pressure on the window seal. If it doesn't will a Toyota tech go beyond the scope or tsb and apply exterior window noise foam kit to the underside of the upper window seal. If they did go the extra step they can flag extra hours.

If it's a new truck under warranty, Toyota is responsible for it.
