    upgrade to transmission
I bought a 2017 Tacoma 4x4 and have brought it back to the dealer 4 times with the same transmission problem IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR IT WANTS TO BE IN
I was told after the software update that it is the charaterisic of the transmission and it is the way it was designed. The service advisor told me I ws bout the 10th customer with this problem at his dealership. Went for a ride with the shop foreman and he told me mine was acting better thn some of the other ones he has driven. I was told because of the government requirements to get up to 50 miles per gallon they need to put more gears into the traansmission. Time to trade it in for something else

    LED lighting,
Sounds like the wrong Dealership, not the wrong truck... You getting the run around? Short of putting in an electric motor you are never gonna get 50 mpg in a V6.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks

Anyone rolling in with a new membership and 2 posts within a few minutes, on the same topic, re:selling the truck................. smells fishy to me.

This subject is beaten to death. There are dozens of mega threads on the topic.

Yes, it's real. There are remedies, which sometimes work and sometimes don't.

But don't bother flapping your jaws about you're gonna sell the truck. Your threats don't bother us or Toyota.

Just do it an move along. Life is too short to bother stirring someone else's pot.

PS, A good test drive before you bought would have quickly revealed your trucks behavior, so you get to share in the responsibility of owning something you don't like.

Even though there is some bullshit in his explanation, he is correct, more gears for better fuel economy. This is just the begining, so e are already 8 and 10 gears.

The common suggestion is to use the ECT button, or get a manual trans. There is also something called shirt sense folks are adding.
