My personal opinion is for the cost of everything needed, I could ls swap it for around the same cost. I have a brand new 6.0 long block and a core 4x4 4l60e sitting in the garage. It's just the fact the ole 4pointhoe only has 37k miles on it and all the work involved is obviously way more to swap everything. Also not sure how strong the front diff is since I wouldn't change it. But I was beating on it in 4x at the dunes this week with no issues.... yet

Are you looking for like an upgraded one? Or just another stock set? I've got my stock ones laying around in the garage I could probably dig up and sell you on the cheap

Edit: are you looking for the hangar or the shackle?

I'm sure the S/C is a whole different animal. But for $6000 it is out of the question. Trying to make some power while staying naturally aspirated. Probably unreasonable without an LS swap lol

Didn't get as far as I wanted due to a pretty good hangover, but I sweated it out into finishing one arm minus shock tabs of course

Only reason I went with a TRD supercharger is because I found a complete used one on Craigslist for $2700 shipped. Otherwise I would of never bothered and probably considered an LS swap instead. I raced a new Raptor Thursday night while at the dunes and I was suprised he pulled on me but later found out he was in 4x4 when I was in 2wd. I'm hoping once I throw on my geared diffs and 35s on it stays zippy but that's without a cage.

I got a buddy up by me who is almost complete with his custom LS twin turbo swap in his ride. I would assume his crazy engine set up is the reason why he has had to custom up so much stuff, but I wonder what a regular LS swap would be to throw in difficulty wise? I know for his, he has had to make mounts for everything and reinforced the shit out of his truck just to handle the horses it will be kicking out.

I'm not sure on how our V6s compare to an LS but I figure it might be smaller since their single cam is in the middle versus our four cams are up top. At least compared to Ford the LS is way smaller and on Rangers I know they fit better than their stock V6s.

Oh ok I got ya, was just curious as what might be entailed as it seems many throw out the idea for the swap. I just wasn't sure if it is generally accepted as the "go to" option to get strong results.

I plan on doing an LS swap when I finally grenade the 4.0, but I swooped on my SC way before the discontinuation so the price tag wasn't that bad. But I never considered just doing an LS swap right off the bat. With the right mods you can definitely see 350 rwhp on the TRD/Magnuson blower and like 450 off the URD blower. One of the few reasons I never went with the URD blower was because a) UCON wasn't available, and b) over 400 crank hp you should really start thinking about upgraded internals. And I knew I'd want the stage 3 with Max hp.
So someday I'll midlife crisis my way into an LS with a good chunk of HP over my current setup and hopefully able to get it all carb legal and all that by then

Has anyone fit an lq9 6.0? I know that motor gets hated on a lot in the gm world, but Ive had good experience with it and I think their pretty damn quick. I drove one daily for a few years with just a custom tune and an exhaust and it was quick. In a lighter truck like a tacoma I bet it would be fun as hell.

Best of both worlds, an lt tacoma with an ls swap would be fun as hell. Anyone wanna build it for a few years and sell it for cheap right when its finished? :fingerscrossed:

As far as I know all LS engines are the same. Piston spacing changes from the LS1 to the LS2 but external dimensions should remain the same. Intake manifold is where the money is at though. Car manifolds are low profile and more HP, trucks have a high rise for more torque. There's a TSB for the LSA superchargers so you can pick up the supercharger itself for cheap and slap it on almost any LS engine for about $2k. I secretly hope my ZL1 falls under the TSB and maybe I can have them return the "defective" supercharger to me if I go with one of the techs I know. The repair is usually just replacing the pulley isolator with a solid one.

How do you feel about this setup? I am early/mid build on a very similar setup solo xlt, solo links, 5.29 gears (if I can get a run manufactured for the front diff...), cage etc... and I have a supercharger from my DD Taco I plan was to swap the blower from the DD to the project. Two reasons: Its free(minus my time), and the DD will sell easier without the blower.

obviously more is always better, but how do you like it? Am I wasting my time? should sell the blower to put that money towards a bigger motor?
