Ok guys i have an 06 2wd with an a/t. When in park or neutral im getting a winding noise, sounds a lot like the powersteering pump when they start to go out. Anyways, in gear the noise disappears. What the hell is going on? I took my truck to two toyota dealers, AAMCO, and 1 tranny specialist and all say the tranny is fine? Anyone else have the same sound?

I could be wrong, but this kinda sounds like you're hearing the ABS coming on. It makes a growling noise followed by a winding noise. Sometimes also sounds like a grinding noise. It's not that noticeable with the radio on, but easier to hear with it off .

Mine makes this noise after putting it into drive and easing forward.
Is the transmission shifting good, and working just like it did from when it was new?

NO! Tranny shifts hard from 1st to 2nd! That's been my biggest complaint but toyo, aamco, tranny specialist all say its normal. Man WTF!

Sorry to hear about that! You may want to take it to the dealership, to have them check the oil level. I would also suggest thinking about getting car repair insurance. Just in case the tranny goes.
Sorry, couldn't tell you what this is, but definitely get that level checked, hopefully someone else has an idea what it could be. I wonder if this could be your torque converter causing this, could be a lot of different things. :(

my 09 was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd until i had the transmission tsb done. now it runs real smooth, im not sure how far back in yrs the tsb goes but it might be something to look into, but the noises i got no idea on that one.
