Yeah the majority of miles are road trip miles compared to local through the yr's since purchasing my truck brand new in 2012.You've obviously covered/traveled more.

@uhplifted @ODNAREM the greatest amount of coverage will only last 2 minutes, but the entire event is over ~2 hours. For SD the best time to look up is 10:23am. Cloud cover down here though, doubt I'll see anything. I don't have the glasses or a pinhole viewer anyways.

Just take 2x sheets of paper.
    - use a thumbtack or something to poke a hole in the middle of one sheet... the hole has to be fairly smooth
    - use the other sheet as a viewing screen
    - hold the one piece of paper at some length shining the light through it to the "viewing screen"
    - you SHOULD be able to see it that way

The sun is IN/OUT of cloud cover up here in Ontario at the moment???!!! :goingcrazy::frusty::facepalm::annoyed::boom::bananadead:

But yeah, you're right about the amount of time... it entails the complete "transition" when the eclipse starts to end at a specific point. Thus, a person in Missouri, for example, it will take the eclipse there ~2hrs from start to end.
