line x or full metal jacket bedliner

hello, im new to this forum. its pretty awsome.
im sure this question, or a similar one has been asked many times on this site, i tried searching but have not found my answer...
so line x in my area is $559 out the door. they say theyre the best, lifetime warranty ect ect...
then theres a place which does full metal jacket bedliner.100% polyurea. they claim to be just as good as line x (in so many words). they said anytime theres a scuff or tear they will fix it free. it has a "lifetime dealership wear warranty". also they will sand and buff my scuffed bed before they spray. my concerns with fmj is will it last, fade, is it slippery. also it says fade resistant (how long is that?) this bedliner is $400 out the door.
the only people i have to ask are the salesmen of these products, and they have quite the pitch, but i dont really trust that thyere being honest, instead just trying to sell me their product.
so is line x worth the extra $159??? im not broke, so i could afford it, but is it worth it??? are they the same product, but line x has the popular brand name and thats why it costs more? or is it a superior product?
anyone have experience with both?

ps i dont have a 34 inch lift i cant change for some reason

 

If you go to control panel you can change that. Click on the edit your details and its in their.

 

linex has been around a long time and stands behind their work and most likely will be around longer than FMJ... I never heard of FMJ, but I really like the linex product. IMHO I would spend $200 extra for a proven product... Just my thoughts and good luck!

 

I have LINEX and it's awesome! I would definetly suggest it, maybe call and ask each company what is in their product? could be virtually the same?

 

Go with linex. I was in the same boat as you until my friend who got fmj showed me where the liner started coming off of his tailgate after less than a year. But i have to say thats crazy how its going to be $559 out the door for linex. I got mine done two months ago and it was only $425

 

Go line x, but at $559 they are really ripping you off. Even at $400 you'd be getting ripped off. Offer them $300.

 

I used to spray LineX, in fact, I sprayed a couple other brands as well. I ended up going with LineX because it was a better product. They are kind of steep on their price. I was spraying at a Toyota Dealership and they were and are currently charging $349. That is for any truck (full-size, compact, short box or long box). LineX is IMO the best liner available. You also want to talk to them about how they prep for spraying. If they do a good job sanding, it will last a long time.

An FYI on the $559 price, I could do a really good prep, spray and have the truck out the door in about two hours. I cannot remember what materials cost for sure, but $100-150 for bedliner material, tape, etc sounds right. So they would be making a lot of money off of you.

Indyliner is another brand that I would reccomend.

 

thanks everyone. sounds like linex is the consensus. i thought 559 sounded like a lot. i will try and see if i can talk them down. mabe ill call the dealership and see what they can do.

 

thats what i was affraid of. they said they will do patch work, but i would rather not deal with bringing the truck in again after only a year.

 

Am I the only one who prefers the one-piece Toyota bedliner that goes under the bed rails?
Nothing wrong with Line-x, but I just like the OEM ones better...

I wanted to get the rockers done also... i didnt even ask since it was so much as it was...

 

LOL!!! don't know why two prices for bed and under and over rails, but "under OR over rails" is usually included in the price of the "bed". What the hell is wrong with people? It seems like everyone is trying to rip people off nowadays. WOW just WOW!

i called around and found a place to do it for $475 since they honestly said they got guys just sitting around with nothing to do...
they work a huge auto mall strip and do lots of new trucks but if truck sales are down so are bedliner sales i guess

Lol ab 3 wal mart rattle can bed liners will be ab 20 bucks. Jk. My friend has the rhino liner and its really nice. He has everything done on it. Rockers, fender flares, brush guard, emblems. I think he would just paint his entire truck w it if he could lol.

Just prep your area real well and use bedliner in a can. Works well in my experience and if you need to touch up, you dont need to go anywhere or do a lot of work.

 

yeah. linex wanted extra forover the rails. but full metal jacket included it at 400 bucks.i still havent made upmy mind.

I have Line-X so I recommend that only. Line-X is a franchise so I would check other stores close by for a quote. Two stores by me...one quoted $490 otr and the other said $410 otr. You can guess who I went with.

 

I just put a line-x on the beast. Also put one on it's big brother (2500 diesel ram) a few years back. It's a good product -- it's proven and has a good dealer network established. They are not going anywhere. You never know about other companies.

One thing tho -- don't think that line-x prices are written in stone. Each dealer is free to set their own prices. Find out the locations on line-x distributors in a radius of 120 miles of you and get on the phone. Call them up, tell them what you want and ask for their best rock-bottom estimate.

When I wanted to do the beast a few weeks ago, I called a close by dealer and started negotiating with them. Got the price down to $390.00 OTD. That included over-the-rail coverage and full warranty. He was having a slow time in his business so it was win-win for both of us......
