Yeah man, stay strong with the home savings, keep saving!

I just spent a huge amount of my home savings on suspension, tires and wheels. Actually now that I think about, I don't even know why I Started the thread. I cant afford a super charger right now anyway, haha. :cookiemonster:

I'll wager you a Diet Coke that this engine won't handle more than 5-6 PSI w/o internal work and variable tuning that essentially replaces the whole ECU. A daunting task in itself.

Most piggyback ECUs are fixed parameter, allowing them to be PnP, but having a high saftey margin (low boost) for the motor.

But 5 or 6psi is better than no PSI. But it ain't gonna be cheap, on a $/hp ratio.

That's my speculation. Which at the moment is as good as anyone elses guesstimate. :D

Eh, probably .5 bar (7psi) or so on 93. Since 11.8:1 is decently high on the 3.5, but the FA20 from the toyobarus are 12.5:1 and are easily tuned safely at 7psi on 93. 10-11psi on E85. Tuning companies like OVTune would probably do a flash tune for this if they actually come out with it.

On my 2nd gen the factory SC produces about 29% more power, which is a mild boost. I've driven my Dad's 2nd gen stock right before driving my 2nd gen supercharged and the stock has plenty of power but the SC has extra. It doesn't smoke the tires off or anything, but it definitely pulls harder. It's mostly noticeable when when I'm passing people on the freeway. It's fast - for a truck.

That was my experience with Comptech coming out of my SC Acura TL. I suspect the same.

$8k installed for 5 psi... pass, I'll just do gears.

Just got the email from them looking for pilot testers for 2010-present 4runners. Must be soon...

    Pilot tester price is $5000 + S/H.

I'd certainly be interested if it comes in around $4k... beyond that, pretty sure I can learn to live with just a re-gear.

yeah roots / twin screw kits are always a lot more money than centrifugal kits.. no matter what application they always seem to be $8k vs $5k

Is there any warranty? Wonder if it blows up during testing phase they'll cover you?
Also, very interested to see what they do with the ECU. If they just stick it on with no flash, its not going to run at its full potential.
