Theres an LL Bean outlet store in North Conway.

 

40 minutes or so, I may take a ride up tomorrow. Been looking for some back/dirt roads to guide you on, but no luck yet. If you stay near Conway tonight, I think 113 will bring you into Maine and that's a decent ride.

 

Blueberry is good, but quickly delivers the heartburn.

If you can get a truck down a trail, you'll definitely be able to get a bike down the trail. They are pretty nimble as long as you don't get a heavy pig of a bike.

There's some good advice here depending on what your expectation of a bike is. If you want a true off road performer, a dedicated dirt bike will be hard to beat. The problem with most dual sports is they do a lot of things OK but don't excel at anything. They're underpowered on the road and usually geared a little too high off the road and don't have a great suspension for hard off road riding. All about compromises with most dual sports.

Check out the DR350. I did not like the DR400 because they are very tall and I have short legs. The DR350 has a 6 speed transmission so it does pretty well on the road but is still light, nimble and air cooled so it's better suited for trail riding than the DR400 (no radiator to worry about if you drop it). The DR350 is very easy to work on and was in production for many, many years virtually unchanged so replacement parts can be found quickly and easily.
