I love the ECT to some extinct! Sometime ECT can be a little harsh on shifting for me to drive on a cruising day lol

    Thank you @sig916
Well hopefully Matt will work his magic & give us the option to not have the truck learn at all or just reset every time the truck is turned on.

To reset the ecu memory don't you just need to unplug the battery for a certain amount of time??

I think you can just reflash the ecu with the tune

That whole "Drives much better" feeling we all get after an ECU reflash is what, I think is safe to say, all of us want to have every single day with no variability.

Agreed, give us 4 'unlearning' maps. Drive, Drive + ECT, S, & S+ECT. Between these, every driver should have options for their style, and it eliminates the frustrations we have with inconsistent learning.

New truck, and fairly new to TW. I don't understand the "learning" of the ECT feature. I did read somewhere that the truck/transmission will "learn" for the first 1,200 miles. Is that correct? Can you (or anyone) break this down for me, please? What is actually going on here? I have been driving in flat areas and haven't had much trouble with the tranny (yet). It does feel lagging on the top end (5th and 6th gear), unless I really step into it. Also, I mostly use the Sport shifting mode. Is the truck "learning" my driving patterns while I am shifting as well? Thanks in advance.

Does the case improve ecu learning?

I am not going to be interested in this tune till it comes in it's own programmer so I can program the ECU and return the tune back to stock from the programmer when I choose or after the dealer messes with it. Too much hassle otherwise and if OVTUNE were to quit offering support or have some kind of life-changing event, he may not be available in the future. Think about this!

I believe with the tune you always have the option to flash back to stock when you want.

Woohoo, what does that mean for those of us (order #1905) who waited for the case instead of taking it without the case in this last shipment?

I'm pretty sure you keep the stock file...you send the file to him so he can update it but you still have the ability to go back to stock at any point with your saved file.

This raises a point, OVTune do we retain our stock map to flash back in the event we need to?

AFAIK the map file you READ off your truck in the beginning of the process is your stock map. If you save it, you can always re-upload it back to stock.
Or, just take it into the dealership and their flash over writes any of OV tune's map. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Part of the beginning of the process is you save your stock file, and can use the kit to flash back to stock at any time from home without us.

    correct

No. You save it to your pc. And even if you don't your email will retain it as an attachment for a set period of time so you can download it to any pc really.

Yes you keep your stock tune. The only time you need to send OV the file is the first time and if the dealership updates the ecu again. Toyota is on version 3 right now so another update is (hopefully) not happening. Once you get OV tune you can go back and forth between stock and OV tune every hour if you wanted to.

So...how many have installed the OV Tune? Like the results? More torque? More HP? Feel faster and more snappy on throttle response? Anybody been on a Dyno?
