    My dad suffered a 4-runner with that POS V6. Leaked oil and burned coolant from the day he drove it off the lot until the day he sold it. Toyota's engine history is not without its blemishes.

    Yeah the 4.0 has it's faults too with head gasket issues here and there and the secondary air pump issues now. Otherwise it's pretty solid This engine (3.5) is a little too new to know. The 2.7 seems bullet proof from what I have read and is proven.
