shift knob please help!!!!

I brought a 2009 Tacoma single cab and the guy that had it before me put some weird Shift knob in it and it didn't fit The lever so he used some weird plato glue so it would stay and I Can't remove it but my question is can I remove the whole lever and replace it or am I just stuck with this shift knob please help!!!

 

I have a stock shifter knob that I no longer use. It should fit for your taco if you want it. It does have a small scratch on the top of it, but its yours if you think you can use it.

 

I'd try wrapping the knob with a towel, apply large water pump pliers, and lefty loosie.

Apply slow, steady and increasing force till it pops loose, so you don't twist the shift lever.

I doubt the glue is strong enough to resist proper leverage. Unless it's Locktite Red. In that case, I'd be worried about what else he'd done to the truck.

I'm not sure if it's possible to remove just the shaft but you can replace the while part pretty easily. Maybe from a junk yard or ebay.
