A couple more question. (and I thank you all in advance for your responses)

I've read "Yes" ECT in SSP mode and I've read "No" ECT in SSP mode.

    What's the correct answere?

ECT works just fine with SSP. I never liked ECT without SSP, so I never use it with SSP either.

.....Also, what are the best mounting positions?

Has anyone left it mounted inside the shift console? Will I need to access the on/off switch on the unit for any reason, perhaps to tow in S4 with ECT on?

To put in regular S mode, all you have to do is move into S and then move it up or down to disengage SSP. To turn SSP back on, move it to D and back to S.

I have mine hidden in console (pushed under qi charger slot), and have never felt the need to access it.

That's where I've decided to mount mine too. My only apprehension is, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the SSP unit has an on/off switch. I believe I read in a previous post it will tow better in S4 with ECT than the SSP unit. ...Again, this is in regards to towing.

    Thoughts?

To put in regular S4 without using the power switch:
    1. Move from D to S (puts transmission in SSP mode)
    2. Shift up or down (this will turn SSP off, and put it in regular S mode)
    3. Shift to S4 (now it is in regular S4)

Just wait for the super charger. The demand is high, but they just need time to engineer it.

Love it! Thank you for your reply. So no need to manually turn it off to run it in factory S4 with ECT. Just shift it in S mode will shut it off and put it in S4 for factory shifts if I feel it tows better like that.

Thank you again for your response.

Do you have any pics of it mounted in console? Is there much space under the qi charger and is the access to that space under the transmission cover?

    Thanks bludweiaer.

I saw that location. I'm still waiting for it but took the liberty opening up my console. I see a lot of space under the qi charger slot. I think Im going try it there first.

Ended up installing unit under qi charger slot. Taped switch to "I" ON just in case so it won't bump to "0" OFF position while it is tucked hidden in the console. Only needed 1 zip tie. Unit is totally hidden. Installation was super easy.

Limited drive time but initial impressions are good. Will give full opinion in a week or two after I have more time behind the wheel with various driving conditions.

Thanks again to everyone for the helpful insight and opinions on the unit and installation.

Essentially this is the number one issue I cannot get past. Not even the shifting so much as the constant rpm swing. On a gradual highway climb it seems physically impossible to adjust the throttle via pedal to maintain speed; it's either 2500rpm or 3500-4000rpm & then an almost instantaneous rpm drop back down to appease the mpg gods.

That big jump is down to how much difference there is in gear ratio between 4th and 5th. Can't really do anything about how big the jump is, but SSP will make such jumps less frequent by holding 4th longer.

I owned used & enjoyed the SSP... great product, does what it says

I'm not referring to gear changes. This past w/e was in S4 on long 2-3 mile climb on highway. While running 2-2500 rpm & need more you cannot [in my truck] throttle up to say 3500-3800, it will peg right to 4-4500 throw me over preferred speed & immediately drop back to 2k

    Over & over & over....

Must be a slow highway. Going 70+ mph puts 4th gear around or above 3k rpm.

I'm not sure why rpm would take big jumps if no gear change.
