The people over at reddit r/ToyotaTacoma have directed me here to get some help finding a 2017 TRD Sport in the southern California area. I have been shopping some time now and was wondering if there were any particular dealerships any of you found great in terms of price/availability and any places to avoid. I'm pretty young and dont really have any experience with bartering so any advice and tips help. Excited to get my first truck and even more excited that its going to be a Tacoma.

    None as of yet
No one would haggle price on them with me down here. They sell too fast is what they all said. But you're looking right at the end of the mod year so you may have better luck. Tustin Toyota worked the hardest to try and find me a truck I wanted. Buena Park gave me a run around.

I ordered bought mine at Riverview Toyota in AZ. Much cheaper than anything around here. Order what you want and get what you want. '17 production may be done so you might just get an even better deal on what's close to what you want.

@RZRob So how did that work, did you pick out your Tacoma and go over the price on the phone? Also did you have it delivered or did you make the trip and pick it up?

Exactly, I called Chris over there, and I said I want a white DCLB OR, and lets review all the options possible. Now, how are we going to do price? I think it was $1K over invoice and it was much better than I was able to do in town. We ordered, he called me a few weeks later and I flew to Phx and brought her home. They met me at the airport. I imagine '17s are negotiable now if you are on features. I wanted premium sound with JBL & tech package. Then you have to go to the DMV, get a weight inspection, smog and pay commercial fee. Still cheaper and more appreciated.

    Too few to list.
Toyota of Orange was pretty good with pricing. Toyota Place was also good with Costco pricing as well. Cheapest I found Tacomas was up North at Capitol Toyota doing $1k UNDER invoice. Talk to Daniel or Kiwi in Internet of you want to go that route.

According to Tustin (Toyota of Orange), they are the #1 dealer for Tacoma, and Longo is #1 for overall sales. I ended up purchasing from Toyota of Orange because they had the truck I wanted vs Longo. Both were relatively competitive compared to all the other stealerships in the SoCal region. The best deal I found was in NorCal at Santa Rosa (Freeman Toyota). They were about 3k under OTD compared to the dealerships down here. Unfortunately, I couldn't get up there in time before they sold the truck I wanted... Do you research online and negotiate price online. Once you go in person, try to keep the same price and negotiate for the warranty or extended maintenance. Best of Luck!

Toyota of Orange is on Tustin Street and not the city. Though there is Tustin Toyota as well.

Head on up to The Bay Area/NorCal and you'll find a way better deal. Most local dealers are taking between $3-4K off Tacoma's here. I've heard some people have gotten even better deals than that.

Actually Toyota of Orange were the biggest crooks I ever dealt with - and I've bought 3 vehicles from them including my Gen 2. Miserable experience.

CA taxes for buying vehicle out of state will void any savings.
