Incorrect. Reg cab beds and Xtra cab beds were the same. It was the double cab beds that were shorter than the reg. and Xtra cab beds.

Yeah, I have an extended cab and now that you mention it I think I remember something about the angle of the cab on the regular cab being different than the extended cab. The cap for sale looks like it is off of a regular cab...

The profile of the rear cab wall is different between pre-2005 Regular Cabs and XtraCabs.

The bed dimensions are identical. So it's not a matter of basic fitment - it's a matter of how well the shell's front edge lines up with the contour of the rear cab wall.

The ad photo appears to be a Regular Cab (vertical rear cab wall). If the shell is designed to fit up closely to a Regular Cab, it may leave a noticeable gap if fitted onto an XtraCab (whose rear cab wall slopes forward).

This advertised shell should fit your 2004 XtraCab just fine. The question is how good it will look.

Thanks for the input...I guess I'll wait to see what else comes up.

So how is what I said any much different than what Randy stated apart from the fitment to the cab?

Correct - However, no one was talking about the bed dimensions.

The guy commented on the differences between the cabs and you reply and say the beds were the same. ????

The cab has different profile in the back between reg and xtra.

A shell designed for a regular cab won't match the counter of the xtracab as well.

The extended cab topper is different then that of the regular cab. I found out first hand and had to make it work by placing small boards to raise the topper I bought, that was made for an extended cab, to fit my regular cab.

I know this thread is old...does anyone know how much a shell for an extra cab would need to be raised to fit a standard cab? Or does anyone have any updated info?
