Welcome to America. You can apply this to not just cars but anything else a consumer purchases. CEO's of Giant Toyota and car dealerships got to send their kids to these pricey colleges and take fancy vacations paid for by the little man. Consumer protection laws in most states are not worth the paper they are printed on. Why do you think you have so many lobbyist on capitol hill pushing law makers to ease up or get rid of consumer protection laws. The little guy stands no chance.

That's why I think the entitlement argument is pretty weak in many of these cases. The consumer wants a working product, a company that will back it up, and if it isn't working right to have it fixed promptly... well by gosh that's just ridiculous I tell ya. Bunch of entitled assholes.

I'm confused, I though TOYOTA trucks were made for work (abuse) and I beat on mine every time on it in some sort of way. But then its my truck, but if anything happens to a rental, I maybe held responsible.
I don't like that idea so much.

Lots of interesting responses in this tread. For whats its worth. I got a call back from my advisor he said the engineer is pretty positive its my rear differential. So they're replacing it. But they are waiting on parts, especially that paper gasket.. Apparently they're trying to source the differential and gasket since the recall has caused a shortage...

They told me I could continue using the loaner.

That's good. Unfortunately, that's the SOP for the diff howl. Report, field rep, replace...when the new one howls it turns into "normal characteristic of the vehicle". It's a problem the first time but normal the second. (Ask me how I know).

If you press them and get a 2nd diff or an actual fix you will be the very first in TW history.

Keep excellent records. Make them document the howl and state that it's normal. INAL but that should count as a repair attempt. If it gets to the point where you are making a LL claim you'll need all the documents.

There was a guy in 1 of these threads pretty recently that had the Dealer swap out the Howling Rear Diff and have that fix the issue, he was 1 of the few I'm sure.

I'm skeptical but would love to be convinced. Maybe we can have him check his driveline angles.

Or I could go steal his diff.

You may be correct but we have so many threads on the issue, definitely remember reading the guy being satisfied they fixed it.
