re: Stock suspension upgrade with a factory rake

I'm stuck here i have searched through the forums and am have trouble
finding the answer ..

I have a 2015 trd sport I run 265/75 R16 BF KM2's I replaced the front mud flaps with huskys
so I get a little bit of rubbing on full crank but its very minor and it does not bother me ..

I haul Dirt bikes and trailers .. I want to improve the rear suspension when loaded up
but I like and want to keep the factory rake on the truck ..

I looked at roadmaster suspension but i'm not keen on all the nuts and bolts it just looks
like something that will loosen over time and start to squeak.

I'm reading on Firestone air bags ..

also a new leaf pack i'm not a fan of an add a leaf

looking for something clean that will keep me and Toyota happy ... Toyota mainly when it comes resale time ..

I have had lifted trucks before and I'm over it .. they look rad but the wear and tear on the
truck and the excuses it gives dealerships is not worth it to me any more.

any suggestions on what I should do to help with rear sag when loaded up but that still maintains factory rake ?

new OME medium duty springs sound like they would be the ticket for ya.

 

Having trouble trying to find info on a Medium Duty OEM spring online does
does anyone have a part number ?

I figure I'm going to go

Replace with medium duty OEM leaf packs
OR

$270 TORTUN4L Suspension Enhancement System

TORTUN4L axle stops
OR
Both (Possibly over kill with both)

if you're looking to maintain stock height in the rear, I would recommend firestone ride rite airbags. They're fully adjustable so you can pump them up when loaded up and then let the air out when you're done hauling. I have only had mine on a couple months, but they've been great so far.

 

Love mine, but I have a strict no bro-lean policy. I can put 1,000lbs in the bed and still have positive rake.

 

I have a bit of a problem with getting rid of the bro lean on mine. I have 3.5 inches of lift up front and im stock out back besides the bags. Typically I just pump the bags up to about 40-45psi and that gets me to about an inch of bro lean.. If I ever go out to cali all I have to do is let some air out of the bags and ill fit right in

 

Hmm ok thanks i was on the fence with these air bags ..
I was afraid they might be too finicky ..with leaks and pumping them up .. will I want an on board air compressor
now .. afraid it would add up $$$ ..

The appeal to the TIMBREN .. is the set it and forget it piece if mind..

but I'm assuming the air bags are a much smoother ride as it travels with the suspension ?

 

after I got my bags, I bought a

$102 viair 88P portable compressor kit (12V, 120 psi, forup to 33" tires)

viair 88P for about 50 bucks. if you get the bags, I highly recommend one. Also, I haven't had a single problem with leaks. If you do end up with a problem, most of the time it can be easily tracked down with some soapy water

 

my pops has bags on his 2016 tacoma and freaking loves them. You can adjust for varying loads super easy (i recommend to keep two seperate lines and to not T them together as that makes them act opposite of what a swaybar does). All he keeps with him is a smaller bicycle tire pump and a lil digital air gauge. No need for a powered pump as they hold so little air.

 

If you looking for leaf springs look into general spring HD's

 

A good spring shop can build you a leaf pack that will work very well but those air bags work well on my friends duramax -1 ton pulling a toy hauler- should be more than robust enough for the tacoma.
