We're redesigning our tonneau brackets for our bed racks so that they can be used with BakFlip covers.

Can somebody with one of these covers provide a couple measurements?

    - How far down does the rail move from the factory location?

    - What is the inside width between the rails now? (across the bed)

The "as shipped" method for mounting the Bakflip is that the Bakflip rails mount right to the Taco rails. Bakflip does make some brackets to hang down and mount the Taco rails below the Bakflip rails. I've personally never seen it mounted like that, but it seems kinda flimsy.

I get mine shipped tomorrow ill let you know if you dont have an answer yet beciase i need to take measurements to have someone make me a custom divider. Its my understanding you mount rails lower on brackets and it does change width shorter

    That would awesome!!

I just need to know how far down they drop from the factory location, and what the new inside width is.

This is interesting. so here's the scoop. my Bakflip bolted into the factory rails which sucks because I would love to have a bed rack and still be able to swing open the tonneau. now that being said I have looked into swapping my backflip rail to their CS/F1 series rails. I don't like their uprights too much cuz I feel like they would be flimsy. not sure if you would be able to design something to work with that style of rail/ how strong it would be/ if it could support an RTT etc.. I wasn't even aware that they has a system that dropped the factory rails. but the tonneau sits right flush onto the bedsides so I'm not sure how you manage to get support brackets under the tonneau to reach the drop down factory rails. very interested to see this develop

    I

Dang it just watched my install video on bakflip mx4 and it also uses rails does not drop down making the track system useless. I wanted to have a divider made that slides

hahaha so when I bought mine I was watching videos online where they did NOT bolt into the factory rails, and I was all like, nice I can still use them, got mine installed where I bought it cuz they only charged 100 bucks extra. went to pick it up and saw it bolted into the rails. oh well haha it is what it is lol I'm sure there is a kit you could buy to convert it over to the drop bracket style. I was really interested in the CS/F1 when I got my Fibermax but holy moses did they ever want a crap tone of money for it!! they wanted like 2200 Canadian for the sucker. so I didn't get it. It would be nice to be able to toss my canoe up on some rails tho and not the roof lol so now I'm looking into converting mine over. I was thinking of swapping the rail system like I said in my previous post. but I will only do it if I could also but a cab rack on and mount an RTT, if not ill just get a prinsu roof rack lol

cant use my factory rails cuz of how to tonneau mounts to it. I have not come up with a cost effective solution yet. the only thing I can think of to haul the canoe would be to get a cab rack or convert my fibermax to the CS/F1. the CS/F1 rails aren't too expensive, but the uprights are pricey as hell haha it would be nice to get just the rails, and be able to find some better priced uprights. hint hint @KB Voodoo lol

hmmm I'm sure theres one out there for a Taco, maybe not the MX4 but I'm pretty sure the MX4 G2 and Fibermax all use the same rail system, I know I saw some pics on TW where they had a BakFlip with drop downs. cant find it now of course lol

If you do it for a 2015 you would have to add the brackets behind the rail and then the cover wouldnt fit it would be an 1/8 of inch or so too wide so it wont work. I think the railing channel is still useable or is it noy? Meaning i can still slip the bed divider inside the rail channel and the cover sits ontop of it? Maybe just the factory large tie down clamps stick up too hi

so from what I see the factory rails are still usable for the factory tie down clamps and hanging other items off of. I'm not sure how the divider mounts into the rails or how wide it is. but I do believe you are correct, with the drop down brackets it looks like the brackets go behind the rails like you said causing the inner dimension from rail to rail to be narrower. one other thing to consider is that the factory rail would now be lower too so I'm not sure if the divider would have to be shortened to accommodate the drop.

    Good timing.

This is the bracket that I whipped up just now. Do you think it will fit in there?

The installation kit was for a 6 foot bed, but I have a 5 foot bed. So I have 2 extra mounts if you want me to mail you one.
