Ah so they are now taking orders? How do you approach negotiating when ordering? I'd figure they'd be less willing to negotiate since it's more work and they'd rather sell you something on the lot. Perhaps it's a different story since you're talking PRO...

The build sheet info is nice but when will the 2018 show up for ordering in the dealers computer system?
    Thanks

When you go to build and price at toyota.com only the 17 shows up. Checked with dealer last week and they had no info regarding when an order could be placed.

I haven't brought it up to any of the dealers I've been in communication with. I'm probably going to follow up this week and let them know I'm waiting to see what the '18 is all about.

i honestly loved it until I saw it in person.

In all the pictures it looked much darker but in person it was pretty light. Wasn't crazy about it anymore.
I love my magnetic gray metalic

for the thread though mid to end september we'll likely hear more on the 18s

Just joined, so I could see that build sheet. Thanks for posting it. Put a deposit at the dealer last week for a 2017, but knew it was gonna get pushed to a 2018. I'm hoping for a TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 M/T. Gotta have the manual. Currently have a 2000 Tundra, V6 m/t, bought new in 2K. 188,000 miles & going strong. Been wanting a new Tacoma for awhile. Been reading y'alls posts, and trying to learn the goods & bads about this 3rd gen. Thanks

I've seen a bunch of them on the road.
The only thing that makes it cool is that you automatically know it's a pro, and it's an exclusive color.
When we start seeing cement base model access cabs, the allure is going to wear off fast.
Agree on the MGM. Would have been my color of choice, except we already have a grey highlander, and our rag before that was grey too.

We haven't even talked about price. I did this two years ago with my 2016. Ordered it as soon as allocation was available and negotiated price when it arrived. At the time, I had a 2014 TRD-OR. The great thing about pre-ordering in Sept-October is the huge shortage of TRD models on the market. Production has been stopped for a few months and dealers are usually trying to sell all the previous year SR models left on the lot. I only lost 2K on my 2014 trade, but I did pay about 1K less than MSRP on my 2016. Hoping to make a similar deal this year.

So far, including depreciation and taxes, it has cost me $168 a month to own my Tacoma's. I don't think that is too bad.

I just joined too. Waiting to order a 2018. How much down did you have to put as deposit?

    Edit: I see it now -- $500.

Looks like Early December is when the 18s will start hitting the dealers lots.

The way I read this, they are going to keep building the 17s until mid-October, and not start building the 18s until mid-November. I don't know what this means. The dealers around here are overflowing with Tacos, so I can't believe they need to keep building that long to meet orders. I know there are some people on here who work at dealers, so is this late time frame normal? I would like to believe the delay is to fix the issues people are complaining about, but it's probably just waiting for more inventory of safety sense parts.
I'm disappointed. I want to try the adaptive cruise control before I buy a new truck, but I'm losing my patience.

Agreed - This seems be an odd cycle. Like you, I'm noticing a LOT of Taco's sitting around and that makes me a little nervous. Even worse, they are all "On Sale".

Safety sense should be the same as all the other Toyota and Lexus vehicles, I couldn't imagine that being a hold up...who knows?

I was really disappointed they didn't update the 4runner this year. I had hoped go that route, but when I found out it was a direct carry-over I passed. I happen to like all the new tech. ...except entune. That software package needs a serious overhaul.

"Toyota is so far from having too many that excessive supply is not on the list of near-term concerns. Cars.com lists fewer than 20,000 Tacomas in stock, or about 29 days of supply. In an industry that believes 60 days is ideal, the Tacoma’s relative scarcity on dealer lots is problematic."
