    Finished the first part of the rear bumper, just kept it simple, inspiration came from
    @Box Rocket


     Adding a OME lift kit with light racing uca's, also picked up SCS F5's and purchasing new tires.

    Build 1: get armor on COMPLETE

    Build 2:
    Front bumper
    add recovery
    Add winch

    Rear bumper
    Add recovery
    Add dual swing out

    It was pretty straight forward, I kept the stock bumper mounts and reinforced them .

    Sure, just to explain the process, I removed the original mounts from stock bumper, and bolted them to the frame. Cut two big sections out of the 3x5 tube where the mounts are located and sat the mounts inside the 3x5 against tubing. There is big offset so, I slowly trimmed the mount till I got the fit I wanted. Then laid some tacks, removed the 3x5 with mounts attached. Reinforced with 3/16, took the pieces I cut out of the 3x5 and cut holes for the mounts and enclosed the end of the mounts inside the 3x5.

    @Dan8906 It's not pretty, but I wanted to get the bumper on before school started up again. I'll go back and clean it up when I add the swing out. Plus no one will see the backside of the bumper ahah

    Here you can see the mount insert and it goes all the way to the back wall. So a good portion of it was cut out you can see a little blending. IMG_0182.jpg

    Me too! Suspension is currently enroute from headstrong, gotta mount some 285/75/16 falken wildpeak mt's on the F5's and take care of everything in one big install... maybe a mod day

    Haven't really updated this much due to school , I don't have new armor but due to a lift and new wheels and tires I have a new problem to solve... spare tire location.

    Rather than a swing out bumper, I'll be building a swing out tail gate.

    Still a lot has to be done, but my winter break is almost here and January 7th is my target date of completion, which also dates this thread to a year.

    Truck looks great my dude. How're you liking those Falkens? I have the Wildpeak AT3Ws, just hit snow for the first time on Friday, I'm real happy with them so far. You and @jacobrippey really make me want to find a softopper.

    How much money have you sunk in to your welding setup? It's something I'd love to do myself, but I think I'll have to save up for a while. Plus I rent and don't have a decent workshop space.

    Falkens are great! Just picked up a set of the at's for my gf!

    As far as the mt's go, I haven't been off road yet, just waiting for some free time to open up. But on the road they are pretty quiet, no crazy vibrations

    In terms of my welding set up I'd say initial cost was around 1800 a big chunk of that when to a jd^2 model 3 bender. This is excluding all the little items like cutting and flap discs etc.

    Space: you can get away with minimal space. I do all the work in my drive way and store everything neatly inside my garage so it doesn't take up too much space.


    My Soft topper is awesome! I love it! Just watch Craigslist you'll find a good deal

    Yeah, I'm in a townhouse. No garage, barely any storage space. Maybe I'll move again in a year or two, if I do I'll definitely be looking for a garage/yard/driveway.
