Trail Gear Rock Assault rear bumper, opinions?

I searched through the forum and everything seems to be with 1st gens having these installed. Any 2nd gen tacoma owners with this bumper? Have any pictures?

I'm in the market for a new rear bumper and I really like the tube look and it's about half the price of the Pelfrey bumper I've been eyeing the past few weeks.

My main concern would be that you probably won't be able to add a swing-out carrier without considerable fabrication and expense - while it's straightforward with a plate bumper to add one later.

You could always get a wilco tire gate or a bed/roof rack to mount the spare. I've thought about getting this bumper as well but not sure I'm sold on how it looks on the 2nd gen.

 

2nd gen tacos have a lot of weird lines and open area covered by the bumper. Tube bumpers make all of that visible. There are a few folks with them, but I don't like the look.

 

Do they make a front tube bumper?

 

I agree with this. Also, I don't like how the "wings" have no support because they don't tie into the frame, like a lot of other hc bumpers. If it's just going to fold into the body panels when you hit something anyway, then what's the point?

The only problem is the sides can stick you on a tree if you are not paying attention on a tight wooded trail...

I like that! It should be pretty easy to tie it in to your sliders if you wanted.
