IIRC the left side houses the stator and signal coil. Although not Yamaha, the ones I've taken apart were all dry. On the flywheel side anyways.
I think you have a Main Seal leaking

Edit:Nevermind. I found that Yamahas are Wet Systems.

you need to have that cap, you MIGHT find something at Home Depot as a stop gap,

you need the oem plug or the aftermarket equivalent.

you will blow your motor if you keep running it (all the oil will come out)

nearly all the 4-strokes have some level of oil in the stator case area, 2 strokes should have no oil at all. just FYI

All good, for the last 11 years that had been my focus, street racing and AMA bike builds, got 2 engines in the garage right now along with my personal rocket 2007 R1 lightened, tuned, and with 60+ thousand miles on it....looks near new.

now i am going back to fixing cars, no money in bikes anymore..

I'm pretty sure you mean the inspection plug?

Yes, it has to be there or oil will piss out. You'll need to order one for your year range of YZ. Can usually get an aftermarket kit for sub $40 but you may also need an o-ring for it as well
