Pelfreybilt Off-Road

I assume you just don't like the color difference that shows through the top of the bumper? I would just rattle can it with a semi gloss black and call it a day. Mine currently holds my PA so I don't want to take off, but seems to match pretty well.

 

Going to be painting my bare steel bumper soon. I plan to use VHT RollBar and Chasis paint. It claims it is a one step ester epoxy which doesn't require a primer.

My question is should I use a primer still, and if so what type of primer. My go to would be self etching rustoleum but this is a different type of paint than the epoxy I'll be using.

 

For those with 3rd gens, has anyone gotten the bumper with center hoop but got the hoop lowered? Love how Pelfreybilts design covers the cuts on the stock bumper but would love to get the hoop lowered. Thanks in advance

 

I'm sure @Pelfreybilt would do a custom hoop height for you

Yeah, they don't customize their custom bumper...

 

The bumper isn't really a custom bumper now that they have a solid design and have streamlined manufacturing.
Its a baked commercial product that has specific specifications.

Yes, they will NOT do any customization. I tried to do similar but they wouldn't have it. I ordered the bumper with hoop not welded and had someone locally cut it down 2 inches on my second gen. Wish I made it lower but it'll do and I'm happy with it.

So I'm thinking about a 3rd gen bumper and have noticed some, not all, the sides/ends by the flare doesnt line up flush with the flare and pokes out an inch or two. Maybe the truck in the pic is on uneven ground and the body is just twisted? Any ideas? Is this common?

YES you need sliders + mid, rear, & gas skids.

It will also look better if you unbolt and remove the little pieces that stick out.

 

Hmm. I didn't even notice that. But I have a 3rd gen full hoop on order now. Hope it sits more flush

You can try to see if the guy is willing to ship them to you.
I bought a set from him. Very happy with them. No affiliation with him, other than buying a set of my own.

 

I just went outside and took them off. Then I thought it would look better with a frame plug and to keep dirt out. I checked TW and @seoulja99 posted a link for the exact thing. Thank you @seoulja99! That's why this forum is pretty cool, helpful tips other members have seen and done. I'm ordering a set now!

i thought about it. then i thought... a hose will get the dirt out just fine. and thats not $60.
