    Based on my very rough calculations, the largest flare in the photo would be about 32k miles tall. The Earth is almost 8k miles in diameter.

    This was my setup:

    It's a 10" Ritchey-Chretien telescope on a Losmandy G-11 mount. Underneath the space blanket is my Nikon D800 attached on the back of the telescope. Also, big thanks to @JLee for helping me with the custom plate for the solar filter, it worked out beautifully.

    It's pretty nice, but I'm worried since somewhere I read about periodic error that can't be corrected in it due to the design of the worm gear. But I'm still pretty uneducated about it.

    I was hoping their updated head configurations they might have a fix, but I don't think they made any changes to the gear box.
