Does anyone know the specs for a 2016? Is it rated for towing the same as a half ton?

I believe 6800 Lbs is the Max Towing Weight but I would not use the truck for that purpose on a regular basis, many other trucks fit the bill better for towing.

Depends on model, engine, transmission and whether or not you include tow package.

Yeah, I certainly didn't buy this truck for heavy duty anything. However, what I did like about the tow package was better systems cooling etc.

"transmission cooler, engine oil cooler, 130 amp alternator and heavy duty battery."

    My bad.

"Thanks to an advanced 3.5-liter V6 engine and an available Tow Package, the 2017 Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds and haul up to 1,620 pounds when properly equipped"

Just read the PDF TA2016 posted. No "I think" about it. Everything is right there. Towing capacity varies by model and configuration.

The truck is not well suited for towing anywhere near the "advertised" towing capacities in a safe nor comfortable manner in my experience and opinion. If you're going to tow in the upper half of that Range you're going to need to look into aftermarket adds of trailer brake controller, weight distributing hitch, probably some Sumo Springs or helper springs in the rear to reduce squat, etc. The truck is OK for towing about 3000lbs or so....anything beyond 3500lbs I would not want to tow regularly. Of course we do have some pretty steep elevation changes here in AZ. If I lived in Florida or Texas I might feel a little differently but still not by much.

Wowee. This is the famed helpfulness of the TW for you.

I'd invite you to do the same. I posted the exact number four hours before you decided to grace us with that morsel of a post.

Hey Harry, The OP wanted to know the specs for "a 2016 Tacoma". I guess you missed the part about the towing capacity being different for model and configuration. The PDF referenced has all that info.

    Peace Brother.
