Are these supposed to be on my truck?

First, I'm not smart about trucks/cars, so please forgive me if this is dumb...

Got the factory leaf springs replaced for free for a factory recall.
Had them do an oil change while it was in there ( usually do it myself ).

A week later I notice a ton of oil leaking out of my truck, it's never leaked before ! I check the drain plug, it's so loose I can unscrew it with my finger! Leaking oil everywhere ! I'm pissed, so I tighten it, then think ok if they did something this dumb, what else did they screw up?

I look at the leaf springs and see these on my truck, I don't know if they are supposed to be there or not. I'm not that car savvy , but never saw anything like this before. They are called bracket stabilizers?
Are they supposed to be there, or did I get seriously screwed.? Could these being left on cause any damage to my truck ?

This is the second time this Toyota certified mechanic has screwed me. I'm glad I noticed the oil leak when I did or else my truck would of been dead in a few days.

Now I have to change my oil again after I just payed the shop to do it, and I am seriously concerned because if they installed the leaf springs with the Same care they did my oil, my truck is probably damaged. I off roaded with it the day after it left the shop.:(

That looks like a spacer block to me. Do you have a lift on the truck?

Normal. Might want to check the torque on the ubolts though.

I'm going to try and take some more pictures tomorrow when it's light outside.

I'm pretty concerned.. could I have damaged my truck by off roading if they weren't torqued tight enough?

Those are definitely just U bolts and the bracket that holds them to the axle.

Drain plug, check your oil level, top it off

    Alright, thanks for the advice.

I'm just pissed I went off reading after getting my truck out of the shop. You would expect certified Toyota mechanics from a Toyota dealer to be capable of tightening a bolt.

Again, sorry if this is a retarded thread. I don't know much about mechanical stuff.
I just found myself really concerned.

This is the second time this shop has done something retarded to my truck.

No harm in being concerned. From top down you have your bump stop, the leaf pack, shiny silver guys are the u-bolts, and at the bottom is the mount plate.
Make sure the 4 nuts at the bottom (on each side of the truck) are tight. 80 ft lbs.
Check the level of your oil, top it off, and be on your way. Just avoid that dealer if possible.

There is also about a half inch gap in both of these spaces..
    Is this also normal ?

Also, on picture three where there is the half inch veritcle gap.. there also appears to be some horizontal off set between the leaf springs. Would that possibly be caused by being driven with the brackets loose?

    Sorry for low quality pictures

Ok thank you for the fast replies, I really appreciate it.

I have to say I was pretty darn angry when I saw how loose the drain plug was.

I'm going to talk to the manager of the Toyota shop tomorrow. This will be the second time I've spoken with him.
I'm just glad there was still some oil in my truck.
Just topped it off but I'm going to change the oil this weekend.

I knew a guy that ran a shop and he told his employees, if he ever found a loose drain plug on anything, they were fired. Engine on an engine stand, car on the hoist or anything.

I was always taught, when you screw a drain plug in, you tighten it right then. It doesn't matter if the phone is ringing or the building is on fire, you tighten that drain plug.

He is totally right by that too.

Thankfully my girlfriend the other day was bitching at me about my truck leaking oil in her driveway
First thing out of my mouth was " my truck doesnt leak oil !" lol.
Anyway, I wouldn't of even noticed if she didn't say anything. Can't imagine what would of happened to my truck if I didn't catch this when I did.

The ironic part of all of this is... the shop that did this still owes me money ( store credit ) over the past fuck up they did. The oil change was charged into the store credit they owed me from the last screw up, and they still owe me like 50 bucks.
I'm going to kindly ask that they refund me my cash/store credit for the oil change screw up, and the past mistake.
If they refuse to refund me the money as cash ( I don't want anymore store credit, I don't trust them ). I'm going to report them to the BBB and find out who ever manages the Toyota service center certifications and report them.

This dumb mistake could of destroyed my truck, and I still owe the bank like 15k for my Tacoma. So ya I'm pissed.

This is the place that did me dirty.
Just FYI for anyone in my area.

The people are very nice there, however the mechanics have burnt me twice.
