    Thanks a bunch!

So it looks like the power locking tailgate makes it into the SR as does the trans cooler on a V6, and LED tails, wohoo!

I'm trying to find out if there will be controls in the right side if the steering wheel for the TSS features?

    Correct.

It's possible for Toyota to update the build sheet I have posted. They have done it in the past but mostly for options not actual truck models.

Sorry for dumb question but does this mean my local dealership can now order a 2018 as well? I've been in contact regarding a 2017 but I don't want it (not the right color/options - I just wanted to drive a manual). I didn't want to even start the "can you order me xyz" stuff until it was actually an option for them.

As I understand it, you have two basic options for "ordering"

    1) Pull from allocation - They look at the allocation list (like the ones posted above) and find a match. Allocations are trucks that are being built or scheduled to be built so you won't have to wait as long. I think dealers can swap allocations between each other within regions if they have a buyer.
    2) Special order - You get the truck exactly the way you want it, but you are placed behind everything on the current allocation list.

When I bought my OR, I dealt with dealers in two regions (KS and GS) that way I had a little leverage on inventory and price as a consumer. This time around I'm ordering a PRO, and I think it's different deal altogether since so few are actually built. My dealer said they can only order those if they have a buyer...but then, dealers say a lot of things. :) Toyotas' website does seem to support this...

Originally not Expo AF! Kinda Expo AF now...lame.
A friend of mine works at a dealership and they had a 4Runner and a Tacoma Pro on the lot. I asked who ordered and he said they were just up for sale. The Dealer ordered it.

That seems odd to me. Considering there are over 1200 dealers in the US and they are only building 1000 of them.

Keep us up to date on this. I am leaning towards a 2018 Pro as well, but the limited availability/ordering process is foreign territory to me.

Did you pay the extra money of a Pro just for the color?

Heck, you paid $50k for a Tacoma?!

I was set on the Pro regardless of color but liked the exclusivity of the color.

Yeah in Seattle with the huge tax and licensing fees plus the upgraded extras on my Pro came in at $51,090.

The Pro is a sweet truck and worth the wait. I won't do ANY suspension mods so I'll retain the outstanding factory ride all while able to fit 33's on it.

The ordering process is a nightmare to get your preferred options and color but well worth it. The dealers don't seem to know all the features on the inventory they'll receive but if you get a good salesman they will call other dealerships with similar delivery dates and trade out with other dealerships based on other customer preferences.

Mine started as a Cement Manual, then white auto, to red auto, then to my initial preference of Cement Auto. It took 5 months.

    Hope that helps.

So how many minutes did you wait before putting on the BFGs?

Helps..yes. Makes me feel better...not so much. :)

At what point in the process do you discuss price? (I am used to negotiating, but there is not much leverage for the buyer in this scenario, which I guess is why people pay MSRP or more for the Pro.)

I have 41,000 miles on my 17 pro 6MT that I got last year

I went through 9 dealers and three states away before I found one who gave me a smoking deal on it

I traded my 16 OR DCSB 6MT with 3800 miles for it

    Never looked back

3 more months and my Pro will go bye bye

No, I'm saying they had two separate 2017 pkgs but consolidated into one Premium pkg for 2018 & I don't want leather or JBL stereo.
