Yes I've been using the chimney and starting fire with Doritos. Learned that trick here. Got the gas assist coz it looks cool. Probably won't use it.

I just purchased a Rec Tec pellet smoker / grille and it's amazing. With the computerized temperature, everything comes out perfect. It is the best pellet smoker on the market and is at the same price point as Treager. Rec Tec uses only 304 stainless on virtually everything. 010.jpg 1602.jpg

I almost bought a Rec Tec when I got my Traeger. I didn't have the time to wait for it to be shipped and I can't get over the fact that I don't like the bull horn handles lol. Ya I know I'm picky. Overall I really like their product. When I eventually replace my Traeger (move it off to other family) I'm not sure which brand I will go with.

I can understand the dislike of the unconventional bull horns for sure. What I do really like is the pellet hopper, which is in the back and holds a full 40 lb bag. It is also a center fed burner. But, to each his own!! Smoke On!!

Oh, and I ordered the Rec Tec on Monday, it was ready that afternoon for pickup, was picked up by FedEx Freight Tuesday and was delivered in Indianapolis on Thursday. Even Rec Tec was surprised!

I also really liked the Yoder and MAK Pelette smokers but they were pretty expensive. To be honest if Rec Tec had a local dealer when I got the bug to get one I may have gotten that as I was pretty impressed with all the reviews. All in all I am happy with my Traeger, luckily I got it AFTER they fixed the quality issues they were having after moving their manufacturing. All in all I have been very happy but as always I want something new this one is now over 2 years old.

Did some dirty thighs on the WSM! Whipped up a outstanding glaze using a blue hogs base.

Where you been? Probably busy time of year for grill dealers, eh? If you ever get a line on a Primo Oval deal, please let me know :spy: :)

For lighting my BGE's no chimney starter, no propane starter, no electric starter just 2 ounces of denatured alcohol ($13 by the gallon at wally world or your local mega home center) squirted into the pile of lump and light. Close the lid and that's it. No off flavor, cheap simple and effective.

Back to the smokers just finished up making some home made mozzarella in preparation of smoking cheeses tomorrow evening. Saturday is smoked beef habanero snack sticks.

Smoked some bottom round last night with oak. Tried to sear it off at the end and overcooked it. Oh well, it wasn't that bad.

Just been busy hommie. Primo's are impossible to get deals on. Dealers don't even get deals unless they hit a cretin #. It's like a Ferrari, You just half to pay for it.

Yeah, it's wishful thinking. Every price you find on the web is the same, $1298.00, meaning Primo has a firm line on pricing, like MAP pricing.

I will probably be listing the other $35 wal mart clearance premium kettle 22 soon. Gonna list it at $80.

And I just scored this. Hoping to at least double it. It is 1st gen, so no probe grommet or lid thermometer.

Lid therm is useless anyhow. My WSM doesn't have the grommet either, I just bent a tiny corner on the top left of the door for wires to get through, works great. Running them under the lid can and does pinch the wires. Lost one that way.
