Steel wheels on 3rd gen

I tried searching google and all over the forum without any results.


I'm looking for a more rugged style of wheel and I like the idea of non stock steelies. Has anyone installed cragar or vision steelies? (Or any othe brand for that matter). I love the look but I'm not sure if there would be any issue with brake clearance on the 3rd gen. Most of what I've found is -12 offset which is most likely too aggressive for my taste so I would want to try to find something 0 offset.

Something like this in 6 bolt obviously:

 

I had to do this in order to get my steel wheels to work... I ran a 1/4" spacer so it was just enough to clear the caliper.

Good to know thank you! Since it's more labor intensive would you say that you don't even need the rear spacers to clear the drums?

 

Love the way they look on my 2nd gen.

 

@Sandycheeks4x4 no I only used spacers in the front. I just wanted the front and back to match. Plus I loved the stud through the lug nut look!

The only bad thing is they are so so heavy imo.

 

I did consider that, but the truck is already pretty slow and mileage isn't amazing anyways so I figure the effects will be more or less negligible.

 

LOL that is true. I've pretty much come to that same idea for when I'm ready to get some new all-terrain tires.

 

I like the look but don't want to run spacers. Might check out the FJ Cruiser steelies or running spare steel wheels.

I'm looking to do a set with AT tires before winter. Wasn't impressed with the stock TRD sport tires in the snow last winter. Any thoughts on these? I'm kind of a noob when it comes to to wheel fitment. Will these fit a 17 sport? https://goo.gl/r9dFfj

 

With the shape of the face on those it looks like it would be more likely to clear without spacers, but I don't know from experience. Worst case scenario you can order them and you may need to add spacers like @Jeff1795 did

 

I know this is an old thread, but can someone confirm whether or not the Cragar "Series 342 D Window" black steel wheels (Part No. 3427760) will fit a 3rd Gen TRD Off Road without any modification? Here are the specs on the Cragars:

- Size: 16x7
- Bolt Pattern: 6-5.5
- Offset: 0
- Rear Spacing: 4"
- Center Bore: 4.28
