That's my issue though, that Premium pkg & leather would be an unavoidable combo. Fabric is a must - I currently have leather & the seats get too hot where I live.

there is no such thing as ordering (if you are trying to compare to domestics). toyota builds vehicles to a set pattern/schedule. once a vehicle is built and it matches a dealer request for allocation, then that vehicle is directed to that allocation request. the more rare of an option/package combo you select the longer you have to wait for that particular vehicle to be made. this is why toyota doesnt have a broad selection criteria like ford or other domestics have where they have literally 500-1000 different combo's you can pick from.

if you look on a dealer/regional invoice you can tell how many combo's you can have with a tacoma by looking at the number of packages vs PIO (port installed options) or DIO (dealer installed option). if an option doesnt have a PIO/DIO option then its a factory only option. if it only has a PIO then those are usually installed at a regional port before being sent to a dealer.

there is a master list of all the ports for distro to each state. if i remember correctly there is 11 regional toyota usa ports and 1 for GST and 1 for SET.

forgot to add, remember if its a PIO option, a worker in the usa is putting that on and you are subject to the whims of that person's attitude at work that day. had the 2016 tacoma with the 3P option (pio) installed wrong at the port and the dealer had to order a new one and the dealer did a better job than what the port did.

Do the toyota workers smoke marijuana and drink on the job like the Chrysler workers ?

2018 Tacoma orders were accepted on 8/1/2017 but build sheets weren't released until a few days ago.

To clear up the whole "Ordering" argument... again.

RETAIL customers, YOU, there is no such thing as a FACTORY ORDER or BUILT TO ORDER. The way the normal walk in customer works is you build a truck on paper and the dealer puts it into the Toyota system. Then the system searches for a vehicle that is already on order, built, or shipped and it reroutes that truck to the dealer and dealer installed items are added later. The system just looks for the basic build of the truck, example, you "order" TRD Sport 4x2 Long Bed with JBL in white w/ predator steps. It will find this truck going to California but doesnt have the predator steps, if you live in Arizona the system will reroute the truck to the dealer in Arizona and then the dealer will add the predator steps when it arrives. Then the dealer the truck was supposed to go to will get a replacement stock unit for the one that was rerouted. Make sense?

FLEET business customers, MY BUSINESS, you are able to FACTORY ORDER or BUILD TO ORDER. I can submit any specs (that are allowed per model) and have the factory build the unit I want. Fleet customers require a Fleet ID # which requires one to submit paperwork and be approved. It doesnt find the truck that is already on order, built, or shipped. This is a fresh vehicle order submitted to the factory.

TRD Pro models, each dealer depending upon volume is only given 1-5 PRO models per year, thats if they are lucky to get one.
Tundra TRD Pro, 4Runner TRD Pro go for $3000-$5000 over MSRP, and Tacoma TRD Pro are roughly $2000-$7000 over MSRP.

I ordered a TRD Pro a few weeks back. I'm sure I won't get it til next year or maybe the year after .

My friend works at one of the few dealerships that sell the TRD Pro at MSRP or possibly the only dealership in SoCal that does. He told me there were about 40 people in front of me but sometimes they end up dropping their order and some have very specific options. I only want it to be super white and manual. Regardless, I'm not in a rush. I'll wait what I have to wait.

I had a Taco OR '14 that I sold and bought a VW Golf R '17 back in September last year. I can't get used to how low it is, people always wanting to race me and a couple of other things but I'll keep it for the time being.

I'm still trying to figure out if the 2018 PRO will have heated seats? I know it's petty, but I love them in the winter on my OR. They heat up super fast too.

I am sure they will as they have them now, don't think they will delete them.

As of right now there is no order guide for the TRD Pro. Most likely it will be released towards the end of the year.

Installed new wheels and tires there and drove home :D

We didn't discuss price until the vehicle was delivered to the dealership and I paid MSRP for all the options and extras. The factory installed running boards, a TRD Intake and a TRD Pro Graphics package that was invoiced at $800. I had no negotiation room to remove any items but I at least mine wasn't marked up above invoice.

I knew roughly the cost of the basic auto package I wanted based on the Toyota website, but I had to put a few thousand more down to pay for the extras that came on mine. It was probably one of the more loaded Pro models that was delivered and probably why I was able to get it traded to my dealership. The original buyer on deposit for that truck probably considered it too much and may have waited for another.

Definitely reach out to several dealerships though. I made a deposit at the one I bought from but I was on a list with several others. Some dealers wouldn't even take deposits and simply did lotteries which I though absurd.

It's true as other are saying in this thread. You don't "order" a Pro they're allocated at random and can be traded from dealer to dealer. But the more you blow up your salesman, push and ask the the farther you'll get with them. I was checking in almost weekly for 5 months. If you want it bad enough you'll get your truck but you have to be willing to pay MSRP or the next guy in line will.

You had a better plan than I. I still have the stock tires and need to put them on Craigslist.

    Nice play man!

They look great! Probably going to do the same. I lasted about two weeks with the OEM "kevlar" tires on my OR. MPG took a hit, but I retain my pride. I did manage to sell the good years on CL for $350
