Same here. I always let it drain, then reinstall and tighten the plug before I ever crawl back out from under there.

Guy at the shop probably finger tightened it, then said "I'll come back with a wrench in a minute", then probably got distracted by something else.

They told me to pick it up at 4:30 pm because the shop closed at 5...
Ended up waiting on the mechanics and getting my truck around 5:30-6pm.

I don't even want to start telling the story about the original reason those bastards own me money in the first place.

I'm genuinely pissed. Im going to make sure the internet knows all about their bs.

I think big places like Mark miller Toyota have so many positive reviews online because they probably have hundreds of fake good reviews. I bet every time they get one bad review, they create 50 fake good ones. All their good reviews sound like they were written by the same person.

    Write a review here...

I did after buying my Tacoma at a Subaru dealer, and it got their attention. The sales manager called me sounding all upset as soon as my review posted. LOL.

I would make sure that drain plug was not crossed threaded too !

I don't think it was... since I could easily twist the plug with my fingers. I think if it was cross threaded I probably would have needed a wrench to mess with it.

Although I have heard about mechanics doing that before.

    Nice.
I'll leave the regional manager a link to my review unless they attempt to make this right.

My truck could have turned into scrap metal if I didn't notice the leak for a few more days.

LOL I posted that at 1 AM and it shows. The "spacer block" is the axle tube.

Dang man....that's funny there. My bad OP. Feel free to laugh at me, I did.

I looked at all the other pics and agree, everything on that leaf pack looks right. The spacing between the leafs is for allowing for extra weight to compress it further. It's what gives you a better ride when unloaded and still handle a little more weight when under load.

Like everyone said, nomral and exactly what ours look like.

People love to cast the blame the mechanic for fuck ups which is all well and good. Humans do make mistakes. Every person on this forum has fucked up at one point in time. Carry a 14mm wrench in your glove box and just check it yourself if you didn't change your own oil. Easy and piece of mind. Even robots fuck shit up in factories.

Honestly, I agree with what's said above, everyone is human and makes mistakes, HOWEVER, when you are paying someone who's job it is to take care of your vehicle, a modicrum of responsibility is present, so mistakes are costly. This could have turned in to a new engine for the OP which the dealer probably would have schemeed there way out of paying saying the drain plug must have worked it's way loose and OP has no proof it happened on their dime, had he not noticed the oil. Thankfully it happened so soon after and was noticed quickly enough to not cause any damage.

@Gun guy how low was your oil when you checked it? Could have some extra wear on your engine if the oil got to low for a few days. Might wanna bring that up when you talk to the dealer. For people that don't do the maintenance themselves on their vehicles, you have to be able to trust your local dealership, (which I do not), so issues like this make quite the issue.

    Update.
I left a message last night, and the manager called me first thing in the morning.
Manager was civil, very courgel, and apologetic. Says he wants to make it right however he can, and he is the same guy that I talked to about my last problem with their shop. He remembers me, and I can tell he is shitting his pants about it.

Since the manager has been so nice about it, I have done my best to be as civil as I can be about it.
They still owe me money from the last screw up btw.
The manager said it's against policy but he is willing to write me a check for all the money that they owe me. As well he wants to clean up the oil stains in my girlfriend's driveway.

He said that he would have his service team check the torque on the drain plug and the leaf springs as well. To which I declined, I told him this is my second time with a horrible experience from your shop. I told him I'm going to have a different Toyota Certified mechanic look over the truck and give a diagnosis as to their level of work, and that he will hear back from me with the results.

I was pretty pissed, I asked him what would have happened if my truck exploded. He said he would of made sure that my truck was replaced with a another used truck of comparable quality... The fucked up part, is he stated that he has had to do that before in the past.

So anyway the manager I spoke to was very kind and cordial; I made sure to treat him with kindness and respect as well. However I'm still very angry about this, and I think I have the right to be pissed off.

I had to put in 2.5 quarts of oil in my truck last night to get the resivoir to acceptable levels. So the truck was driving with less oil than it should of had. It was dark when I did that though, so I'll have to take a closer look during daytime and see what the result is.

Dealership Fuck's the customer over once, shame on the dealership.....Dealership Fuck's the customer twice, shame on the customer.

I know and realize that this is a hard lesson to learn but you should "never-ever" let the dealership change the oil but that's too late though.

You should have realized this the first time you had words with the manager.

Yes it's alright to have the dealership work on it for a recall but that's it, nothing else.

Thank God you spotted the problem out quick and took care of it.

Just curious what reservoir are you talking about? Did you mean to say Oil Pan or Dip Stick?
