this is such a good alternative to a RTT but if you have a bed rack you're pretty much screwed from this as an option

Thanks for all of the responses! I actually went ahead and ordered the rightline gear 2 person tent last night from dicks for $90. ALL of their tents are 50% off right now. They do have some Napier tents as well. Biggest deciding factor for me was having the bed and sides of the bed exposed, the rightline tent not having an attached "floor". Anyway, thanks for all the help

I did the same... I was going to order both the Rightline and Napier. I ordered the Napier first... then came back a few hours later for the Rightline and it was sold out.

This may be your sign that you need a Napier!

I wonder if any of the local retailers would price match?

    Another alternative.
This is 10x10 with a boot on one wall to wrap the end of the truck. (We used it for a few years before buying our Chalet A-Frame trailer.)
This tent was great, as the tent can stay set up while pulling the truck away for use. Then re-couple to the tent when back. The inside of the tent was large enough for a folding table, ice chest, chairs, etc. The bed of the trck was wall to wall bedding for us, and nice because with the hard shell, we could close in, and let the storms rage....
Anyway, just wanted to show it.
    Good luck!!Tent with Boot.jpg

But what is it? What brand? What model?

Eventually, I'm going to do some trips involving paramotoring and camping, so I'm looking at options. I think something like this would be awesome, so I can have a "foyer" area in which to keep my paramotor, my wing, and my other gear out of the elements, but I don't have a camper shell (nor do I want one). I'm thinking maybe a bed tent, with the wrap over the entrance would work well. Sleep in the bed and use the other part for all my $h17.

May end up less expensive than my original idea - get a low bed rack and a roof mounted folding tent. That way I can still access and store stuff in the bed.

Be careful with the napier. The poles for the vestibule/awning are a little too long. the poles are also made of fiberglass, so if they fracture, they will create splinters. (I've had them replace the awning pole twice via warranty).

It was by Sportz, thats all I can remember. Put Tents with Boots and/or Sportz tents, and go from there. All I can say it we had great success with it over 3 - 5 years, and sold it in excellent condition. Have been in the Chalet now for 6 - 7 years. Sorry I can't give you more specific info on the tent I pictured. Good luck.

[IMG] Well... Dick's just F'd me (hold the laughter). Turns out they sent me the wrong size tent. I ordered the Midsize short bed version (#57066) but what they sent me was an odd ball size (#57077) which is literally only listed to fit a Dodge Dakota with a 6' bed!

Another odd thing is that the size chart on the tent itself is different than that on the Napier website.

I was super excited to potentially get to use the tent this weekend. Now I'm just pissed...

I don't get it either. I have been sleeping on the ground (tent or a tarp or just a bivy) and don't understand this obsession with being "off the ground". A really good mattress or sleeping pad along with appropriate site selection works perfectly. Plus you don't have to unload your truck bed. Maybe if my wife was too girly and needed Princess Camping I would have to look at these options but the ground is good enough for my wife so it is good enough for me.

Thanks! I was able to google around and find tents like that. It'll be months before I'll be taking any trips where I may camp, so I've got plenty of time to read around, check reviews, and all that jazz!
