That's crazy. I think I saw your thread about this. I would say 'just got a bad apple' or something, but both pairs... just perplexing. Well, I hope you got your money back. What did you end up going with to replace them? OME? King? =P

I had 5100's on the bottom setting w/ 3" Eibach coils. With Camburg UCA's. And 5100's in the back with a 2" AAL. Never had one problem whatsoever. Although the coils were a bit stiff! The 5100's lasted me without any problems. I switched to Ext. Travel Icons up front & Icon VS 0 - 3" of lift shocks in the rear and am happy with those too. I did recently have DSM re valve them with a low speed flutter stack. Since they're digressive valving. And they ride much better.

Fair enough. The positive feedback on those Bilsteins is pretty solid across the forum, plus I'm riding on sub 5100 quality TRD ones and have had good personal experience. Guess user preference and driving / terrain style have a lot to do with it. If I was going to use my truck for serious off-roading which it seems like you use your truck for and which I'm building my first gen for, I wouldn't expect to get top level results out of low price range equipment. For the guy wanting a budget ride improvement for general use like the guy asking about 3rd gen take offs, I'd say they are better than most from personal experience with Bilstein take offs.

I used to go to a drive in where I used to live. So much fun. Maybe when I get my truck built I'll go back and relive the glory days lol.

    none yet. Going to change
I got a 44 series muffler installed on my truck and worth the money. Very happy with it. Loud in first and second then gets very quiet on highway. 10/10

Cheap spacers and blocks, 33's, poor man upgrades.
Got this little toolbox from a neighbor. Broke off lock added angle iron to fill holes and boom, truck bed toolbox. Having a step side, not much bed space so worked out for tow strap, come along, all hand tools e-shovel and tie downs, cost was free as I already had everything I needed. Plus frees up cab space from all that stuff being behind seat

    me :D

I was in my lowly gen 1. I waved but next time I will honk and yell "mountain mike" out the window :D

    You will recognize me

I am the only gen 1 in Los Angeles getting whipped by prius in my 28 inch puny tires

    A few tweaks
Silly little mod, but it has always bugged me! Discovered this little gem on the Tacomaworld forum. Only took about 15 minutes to complete.

The washer reservoir hangs down now that I have my lower profile bumper

    20170824_163424-jpg_000bc46dd8641d8bab13e5208f1b0090fb0af3b1.jpg

I yanked the cover inside of the wheel well and dropped the old reservoir

    20170824_165802-jpg_770122895a55893feb4d7f00e6156e41b7cfc87e.jpg

The new one bolts to existing bolt holes in the inner fender! Plug from the truck works fine on this reservoir, wires and hose even reach!

    20170824_165733-jpg_fef31975d0fe4eb0e2d5721fc3ba27a6b58da295.jpg

    Much better!

    20170824_171701-jpg_62a5fd4e2d9ae44d8c01a55be4be2feb4a79c925.jpg

Also finally pulled the e-locker axle from the 2001 truck I bought. I will be putting it into the '96. It is pretty crusty - going to tear it down and have the housing sand blasted and powder coated.

The backing plates are shot (rust) - need to replace them soon.

It almost makes me sad to replace my pristine still-black axle with this crusty thing!

No reason you couldn't drive the course, I think it's 100% BLM. I downloaded the full map off bitd.com, had to get on the course a few times, before anyone came in, just to get to a few spots before we found the one we liked.
