Torn between leaf springs!! Help!!

Mine are working great with no issues. Ya know I did not specify the anti squeak pads and have heard a little but it has not been over whelming at all.

There are a couple threads on lube that is used that works great

 

I have the OME CS047R packs and they're alright, but honestly we're talking about leaf springs here. It's not rocket surgery, All Pro, Icon, Alcan all have decent reputations.

Mine don't squeak terribly, other than the poly bushings getting dry periodically. If I had it to do over again I'd buy the heavy duty springs and take out leaves I don't want. I do plan to put an extra leaf in one day when I get a bumper done.

Lift-wise, I got probably 2.5", sits a little higher in the back than front with FOX 2.5 IFP and 650 lb coils, about 2.25" inches over stock. I have a camper shell, Hi-Lift, some gear in the back 24/7/365. I do get a little lean to the driver's even with the (+) spring on the left and (0) on the right. Could be body mounts sagging, though.

 

Yes I will eventually go sua, with dmzs kit, but would like something decent for the rear while I build the front

 

Nice man, what you throwing on the front? I personally would wait and save then just throwing on stuff that you will be looking to take back off. Do it right the first time man. Im learning that now.

 

I'm torn! I have the money to LT front with camburg or the rear with dmz, but not both.. right now I have a 2" single spring aal in the rear and it's stiiiiiff!
Will probably end up just saving and drop it all at once, I like to build right the first time as well!
Also Archive Garage looks to have some cool stuff. Can kinda build rear LT in stages.

 

Im building up my rear in stages and am pulling the trigger on his bolt on bed saver cage in two weeks! After that the kit itself. Right now I got the Bamf brackets with 12 inch kings. These will work now and I will strap them when I get the DMZ kit on. Eventually I will replace with some 16" king triples and then complete the rear. Do understand the rear can cost as much if not more than the front depending on who is doing the work. Since you have the rear with a single AAL, why don't you do the front and then piece together the rear? Do you have any glass on your ride yet? I just did a write up in removing the second gen bedsides which are completely bolt on...with the exception of the gas tank lid that you can just use an air chisel to remove in seconds.

 

I installed the New Dakars a few months ago, and can confirm that they don't squeak. I went back and forth with AllPros, Dakars, Deavers, bla bla bla. I was driving myself crazy. Ultimately, I decided I didn't want the expense of the Deavers, nor the height of the AllPros. The New Dakars have been a significant improvement. I ride heavy af, with a shell, pelfrey hiclearance with swingout, 33" spare, recovery gear, skids. I was sagging like full diaper, and hitting my bumps every time I hit a pebble. They always say "Your Mileage May Very", but I'm pretty confident that you'd enjoy the hell out of the Dakars.

 

I'd get glass when I go LT and actually need it, figure I'll save the MPG a little and the goofy look (no wide travel to match fenders).
Much of the fab work would be done by meself and a friend who is a quality welder (built a roll cage and custom 4 link setup for 1 ton axles on his jeep).

You're setup sounds like a sick MT setup!

 

Ah ok that makes sense. I never really considered glass would hold me back from mpg as yea it is wider, but weighs nothing. I put all my glass on first as it takes a little more to do with removing the old, trimming to fit and drilling, then painting. When it comes time to bolt on stuff you just go for it. Yea the mid travel rear is ok, but def the limiting factor on my truck and just doesn't feel as good as the front by a long shot. Gonna be great to dmz the rear soon enough.

 

Yeah, that's my understanding too, nice mid travel is much better than stock, but true LT, you can't even compare.
What's your front setup?

 

Yea that's true, my front is the TC 3.5 race kit. It feels great on and off road. I hear the dmz kit is one of the nicest on road for an LT kit out there. Mid travel works for now, but honestly it feels really good to officially start the rear build which isn't too much to do now since my shock location is good for now and with bedsides on and out of the way I got nothing holding me up from getting the kit.

 

My Allpro expo springs came yesterday,
I'm going to install them on Sunday
I'm currently running OME heavy up front and Toytec AAL in rear ( got 2.5" lift when empty),but it's never empty and I've since installed sliders so I decided on the 3" Allpro springs because the AAL are not quite enough

Isn't the old CS047R the same as the new HD pack?

 

correct the 96 new pack (aka the 95 + the new AAL) replaced the CS047R.

 

Yea man me too for sure, will be nice to have suspension done in the big picture. I can always add front bypasses down the road.

 

So I went ahead with the darkar el095R. Can always add a leaf later!! But can't beat the cost!! Pics will come I few weeks!

 

Where did you get them? How much did you pay?

 

Wheelers offroad has em for $435! With bushings and shipping, still lower than anything else by at least $100

 

They are cheaper because the bushings and longer u bolts are not included. Neither is the Driveline carrier drop. You will need to purchase those separately.
