I can understand someone watching it. I suppose its pretty interesting when you don't do it for a living. I just, I dunno. LOL. I drive on Ice and snow too. Difference is, its cold and dry in Alaska, and people with heir SUVs aren't coming up from Phoenix where they get scared when it rains, thinking they are indestructible, crashing everywhere.
Maybe Ill try to get some video this winter and put it up on youtube..............

I don't think they would hear 3 crossbow bolts

First week or two after the first snowfall there were a lot of accidents (when living in Fairbanks) but after that, everyone remembered how to drive on the snow / ice.

Oh great when the big woods of Maine burn down now we know who to blame, just kidding. But only a little bit...

Nice that you found your knife and now purchased a leather sheath for it. But leather stinks like hell to whitetails. Your hunting with your son for the first time in a long time sounds like. And your a big boy so here we go, been doing that a lot of years with bovines mainly whitetail. Want you to succeed and not screw up HIS hunt. Let alone yours.

Your on the ground and he more than likely will be elevated. He will have a scent cone and deer didn't used to look up. But they do now they have learned over the last 4 decades or they don't live long enough to reproduce. Darwin was screwed up as a wet dream but there a few things he got right.

Because you have a leather sheath instead of nylon put it in a plastic ziplock bag in your game pouch. Deer or dog can smell that thing couple hundred yards away. Don't care if your using bolts or arrows it is too much. Why we use rubber boots instead of leather for more than 40 years when archery hunting.

Although leather treated correctly with beeswax can help prevent the transfer of smell. Forget fox piss and all that shit it really isn't a masking smell like the marketing people would like you to believe. Saw my first $100 dollar bill from fur trapping trust me.

You stink. Baking soda goes a long ways. You chit or pee in the woods cover it up with backing soda. Scent Shield is great, OdoBan is too for clothes. Hanging your sweaty clothes in the woods outside is better than inside when you are cooking bacon in the morning. But they still stink like a sweaty human unless you spray them.

Drop the pull weight down. When you are face to face with a deer at kissing distance it will try all types of tricks to tell if you are a threat or not. Drop its head then snap back up. Stomp its foot. Blow at you. Stare at you. How long are you prepared to hold for those shenanigans? Drop the pull weight. If it is a Doe you can always finally say BOO and watch it change ends and literately shit on you.

Really would like to see you have fun with your son but don't want you to be "that guy" that keeps every deer in 200 yards from approaching either of you. I would expect that from my son not me. Actually hope I taught him better than that.

Well damn feel like the kid in the "The Emperor's New Clothes" where he is naked. No one else is going to say anything with all the bow hunters on here?

That bow needs tuning. Big time, look at the angle of impact of the 3 different arrows. Yes you need practice but you really need to fine tune that rest in. In the meantime it will help with muscle strength, hopefully breathing, sight picture, and release. But I would be very worried if that was my bow and my hunting or target arrows were shooting like that side to side. Seriously worried.

Thats something we don't joke about around here. It has happened too many times. Some nimrod just about 4 weeks ago got his dumb ass stranded and told the press he tried to start a forest fire to get rescued. Another Minnesota transplant. And this is right after we had a huge one not far where a lot of people lost a lot of property and animals due to another nimrod that thought he could have a campfire during no burn.

    Not joking, let it burn.

Spent 12 years on the West Coast, my friends that come to hunt East of the Missouri River joke about it being lousy with chlorophyll. The Jack Pine to the West and in the Sage Brush Sea requires fire to reproduce. To the East in the Appalachians the serotinous cone does also. Let it burn.

I have been camping on the North Shore of Lake Superior when straight line winds blow the tent over and level it at 110+ mph. And end up sleeping in the truck with my youngest son while hunting. There are many maps of the fires that occur after the blow downs dry out from Mn. to NY which is only Ontario in Canada... Let it burn.

The USFS is finally catching on. Slowly. Did I mention let it burn? Doesn't hurt that new growth forest is much more inhabitable for game than old growth. Fact.

IIRC that guy from Mn. was a long time ago. And was fined and killed himself for it.

Made it to the yurt, a step up from a tent. This is easy camping.

After years of scouts, I understand everything on that list. The whistle is because after an hour of yelling for help, you lose your voice, you can blow a whistle all day.

The arrow on the right was shot at 20 yards from a different position in my backyard. That is I shot from by my garage on the right. The target was turned and setup for the 30 yard position that I shoot from my property line on the left. So I was just shooting both distances walking between the two within 45 seconds. I know it looks screwed up but I was pretty proud I did that.I have slow mo of my arrow in flight. I also shot it through enough paper. It good.... Sorry I was not more specific.

    I know I stink.
My boy is on the pro staff for wild Maine outdoors and is sponsored by dead ringer hunting.
His partner and him have their own hunting and fishing spot
Believe me I'm not going to screw him up. He won't let me..

    Oh yea I understand it.
    I always carried one.
The thing without the pea got me.. Lol.
I have a marine one in the boat that will work.
My Wilson thunderer is the loudest whistle I ever heard.
Puts all these others to shame. It's all about air volume. Some of these survival whistles need a lot of air flow. Mine needs squat.
The kids at camp knew when "Coach Mike". Wanted their attention.

    Seriously people.
All comments are appreciated and can also help others.
I took hunting with my father very serious when I was a kid.
