10 min walk to office from apartment. 10 min walk to grocery store. have thought out weekends and honestly its for the first year. may buy a tacoma next year or after but living downtown boston is something my wife and I wanted to do and not worry about about parking and all that stuff. also fuck the parking there.

Friends of mine are a couple that live in Boston without a car. When they want to get out of the city they just rent a zip car. I thought they were crazy but there are serious advantages to not owning a car, especially in the city. We did the math and even if they rented a car every single weekend thier costs would be less than the average person who owns a car. And that's before you pay for a parking spot. My father sold his condo on Beacon Street in Boston about 4 years ago. 600 sq ft unit with one dedicated underground parking space. The condo unit sold for $540k, the one, single parking space? 90 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

You are 100% right. did the math, love my tacoma but its just not worth it. the job and money are insanely good but the price of parking and the advantages of NOT having a vehicle in the city are solid. Not saying I wont come back unless you guys kick me out the door but at least for a year or two, gonna just coast...and keep the fingers crossed a diesel tacoma shows up on our shores one day. then i'll be back with cash in hand (that I saved from not having to pay for parking).

I'm bias because of being from here. But along all of the east coast, the North East is my favorite. From the cities, mtns, coasts, lakes, everything is a modest day trip away if you ever need to escape. The nice thing about Boston is many groups do trips. You can find a ski shop in downtown Boston, and they'll do bus trips to VT and NH. Good luck with the move. Hope it goes smooth. And it may not alway seem like it, but there really are more nice people up here than loud a-holes.

Appreciate it. Only been up twice (once for the interview) second to find a place to live. Everyone seems pretty nice and weather is shit load better than down here. If I hear one more comment about snow I hope someone chokes on their hotdog. Wife is from Canada so no shock shes fine with winter, and me? I hate the humidity and heat down South so winter is welcome.

Snow is one of the best parts. And you're not even driving up here so you won't have to learn about the furniture parking system in Boston (no joke). Just pick up some ice skates for hockey and get used to the idea of walking across frozen water for Ice drinking, I mean ice fishing.

Is your truck paid off? May be worth keeping it somewhere, anywhere, rather than ditching it and buying another one in 1-2 years?
