Man.... That's a bummer. How fast were you going? Luckily down here for my commute it's only the MD Transportation Authority cops near the bridge that bag people for speeding. The Charles County (MD) Sheriffs don't care seem to care about your speed on 301 as long as you're moving with traffic (more or less). I almost never see cop cars in VA, but when I do I see a bunch of them that day.

I thought I was boned a couple of weeks ago driving from base to another test facility. I was on a backroad and got clocked doing 59 in a 40 coming over a hill. Thankfully, they gave me a warning. :woot:

yea he clocked me at 53 in a 35.... so I wasnt expecting a warning.... but he did actually knock it down to "fail to obey a highway sign" since I made him laugh and I was honest. I really was just going w/ the flow of traffic as well... so meh... I'm not complaining.

good thing is I have a +5 on my license and havent gotten a ticket in 6+ years... so I'm going to take a drivers course and get my points back up

Cops tend to get excessive with the amount of support for a traffic stop...atleast it helps keep our rubber necking game strong!

Getting your points back is good. When I lived in TX, they didn't have points, but you could take Defensive Driving and go a year without another ticket to avoid it going on your driving record which was nice. New Mexico was weird because when they gave you the ticket you plead guilty or not guilty right there when you signed the ticket. If you signed not guilty, you got a court date and then could request deferred adjudication (probation) to keep it off your driving record and avoid points.

Didn't think about the multiple cops for a single vehicle pulled over. Usually, it is just that if I see one cop in VA, I know I'll be seeing more further down the road.

Dude especially where I am they roll in 2-3+ excursions for a traffic stop. Maybe the po-po community is over saturated with too many guys chilling, but who knows.

    nope. Tacoma!

yea, I could PROBABLY take the drivers course, go to court, and get it dropped because I've been clean for so long....

but..... I can also just pay it off and never worry about it again and just drive a little slower haha

I normally only pay for out of state infractions as it isn't worth the hassle.

In higher traffic areas, more troopers are assigned than other places. there are many reason why they use multi vehicle stops. Officer safety being one of them.

I've yet to hear someone get pulled for the move over law. That would be genius. Use 3 cars. One guy pulls someone for speeding. Give it 5 minutes (long enough for the people already present to move out of the way) and then just pull assholes that ride in the lane closest to the officer, who have had plenty of time to move but didn't think they had to (or the guy that speeds pasts).

out my way on 66 you rarely see a trooper, but like you said before,

when you see one, there is usually at least one other nearby.

They other day I saw 2 marked cruisers and a k9 suv pulled 2 cars over at the same time, different sides of the highway. Now I remember that spot lol

I have seen a cop pull someone over for going too slow in the left lane off 66 before, we even filmed it for facebook because we were so proud! I get having a few cops for back up and safety, but man if you are from here, you know what Im talking about. The 3+ happens a lot, but I guess sometimes you need 10+ uniforms to secure the scene.

I'm born an raised in the Commonwealth. I've only had that one experience with the officer in Fairfax city, other than that they all have been extremely nice an professional.

The pulling people for going slow makes me so happy.

I agree the cops are generally pretty chill as to me this is a traffic area...not really a crime area. But man I think its atleast once a month I see a stop with 5-6 cruisers. Im sure they could use some entertainment, but you would think they just bagged some crime lord.

I am also not one to Monday night quarterback someone unless I know exactly what they should do.

I'm not a cop, and have never been one, so I cant say what they do is right or wrong. I know enough to know that cops that are assholes without a reason usually don't last very long in Nova.

I can understand that...now if you were down in the Va beach/Hampton roads area many of them are on an ego trip that their department never gives them shit about.

Did you wait around and see if that person had narcotics? had a felony warrant? was DUI? Was uncooperative with the officer? or even asked to see the LT? Was a high profile individual?

You live in Nova, the Sue happy capital of the DC, MD, WV, NC, VA area.
