I'll try to get there today.

Still looking at heading home Sunday. Doesn't look like the outer bands are going to carry a whole lot. A little breezy but nothing as far west as Katy that I'm seeing.

I've become not a fan of houses on concrete pads like we do in the west/southwest. If I ever build it will be above the ground a couple of feet.

I looked at doing an elevated round house years ago because of water. We had a high water table and a low piece of ground. Was looking at elevating about 5' for view and affect. But we ended up moving to San Diego.

I'm not a huge fan of slab foundations either, but for a yurt (with no utilities in the slab) it wouldn't be too bad. But in the mountains I could see it not being very warm in the winter.

Slab is on the ground. Bugs are on the ground. Yes, bugs will climb. But not as often as they will just wander in when it's on the ground. I've had both. You'll just have to trust me on this.

Are termites as big of a concern there as they are further south?

Old saying of Military mechanics High School Diploma to fix what A College Degree can't but I am pretty sure it is ubiquitous to all trades.

If I get my hands on the next programmer that makes changes on a Friday they will be bloodied. Save that crap for Mondays. It is the law, written or unwritten it is the law. And change management is the law. Use it damn it.

It is still sitting in the freezer. Need to drive into town in the morning and find an Amish harness maker at the farmers market yet. I really like the feel of that stuff...

Been using your "Training by Cypher" with food and toys last night had the 2 of them together on the deck for almost half an hour without issue. With a lead on the youngest and everything on the deck pushed aside so no trip hazards LOL. We are getting there, it is a damn good program. Cautiously optimistic not going to the send the young pup back to Texas at this point. Impulse control has a long ways to go but getting better there too. And with that said the old guy just growled at the young one again. Damn dogs.

Need to sew a patch on my hunting vest yet...

The reason for the whistle without a pea is so it doesn't freeze up with spit in the winter. Fox 40 whistles are considered the standard whistle with many hunters that run dogs. Acme also makes damn good whistles. Pealess and pea. Ha I said pea...

Needs a class in Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow at the Navy Nuc School. Some pushups and running on the grinder in between sitting in the classroom will help with the thermodynamic principals. Kids. Only about half of them will make it to graduation anyhow. Then again it took me almost 20 years to finish my degree but I paid for it myself. And was worth it.

Right up there with geodesic and A frame homes of the 70's. Some are still building them I guess. Not for me. Spending a week or more in tents of various shapes you learn what is efficient space wise and what is not. There is a reason Wall tents are still being made and popular. The sides of a wall tent however will catch straight line winds and no tent can handle them when they come at you sounding like a freight train rolling at you in the middle of the night. Unless there is a taper to them like my Cabelas Big Horn tent.

But I'll take a stick cabin any day of the week over a tent at this stage of my life.
