    Drop the pan and make sure there's no metal shavings or anything. Change out the filter and the output seal since it's right there. Once you get it installed I'd recommend you have a transmission flush done.

    How much did you pay for the trans? I bought the A340F for my 4x4 swap for $250 from a yard up in Reno. Think I paid a total of $475 w/ the transfer case and core charges for both.

    Flush cooler and lines before installing transmission. Considering the age of the vehical I would replace the cooler.

    Spent $600 w/ freight shipping from Cali. 148K on the donor vehicle. So change the tranny cooler and flush the lines, also change the output seal. I'll research the seal and it's location...and prepare for a flush across the board and check for shavings. What if there are shavings? I'd hate to do a full rebuild on this...

    Hmmm I can't ascertain just the output seal that should be changed inside the tranny. Does it have a different name or a combo type deal?

    Change the input seal. The one the converter spins on. Trans cooler is in radiator. Just flush it out. No need to change it.

    Now that you mention it, it does definitely look different. Isn't the trans. on OP's truck A44D and his donor trans an A340E?

    Sorry I'm an idiot, haha. I just realized that is the point, to swap in a A340E in place of the A44D.

    Hence the title of the thread, haha. I really should read more carefully.

    Just to add some useful info, here are the wiring diagrams for the 2RZ transmission (A44D) and 3RZ transmission (A340E or F)

    As you can see the wiring is very different. If you don't know how to read wiring diagrams this will be confusing.
    The part you should be concerned about is how it connects to the ECU. On the 3RZ diagram you can see that there are many more wires going into the ECU related to the transmission. On the diagram where the wire runs into the ECU, there is a letter and number. This letter corresponds to the physical connector A, B, C, D and number corresponds to the pin in that connector. It appears that the 3RZ (A340E) has an extra connector "D". I suggest you make a list using these diagrams using the connector letter and pin number and letter labels on the ecu in the diagrams. IE: Connector A, pin 1, BATT for the 2RZ. Do this for both diagrams and compare to see what is missing.

    If everything matches up and you are just missing that extra D connector, you may actually be prewired for it. You would just have to figure out where that connector is.

    That D connector is actually the connector that would plug into the ECU. I do not know if the 2RZ ecu is wired for this.

    OK @Austin_Mike I just reread everything in this thread. ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE A 3RZ PRERUNNER? Because you definitely have a A44D transmission in your truck currently. That transmission only comes on the 2RZ 2.4L 2WD 5 lug trucks.

    3RZ = 2.7L
    2RZ = 2.4L

    A prerunner is a 6 lug truck that is the same as the 4wd trucks, just without 4wd.

    Yea I know the donor is a 3RZ (the transmission pictured on the pallet), but the OP posted pictures of his current transmission and it is not an A340E. It is definitely an A44D, which did not come on a 3RZ. OP has not posted the VIN of his truck, unless I missed it.
